I had today off for Columbus Day, went for a little ride this afternoon. Got a little cold out, turned on the heated grips, DAMMIT they aren't working. You think I'll have them fixed by next spring??!!

My right grip actually came off today. It was starting to slide off. Heat stopped working and I pulled it all the way off. Rerouted the wires but it continued to slip off during the day. I had them turned on to 6 and it finally started to smoke. Sure glad I got that extended warranty!

Called my dealer this afternoon and asked how long the back order was. My favorite parts guy told me he had a right grip in stock! WooHoo! Appointment made for Tuesday.

Hard10 ask your part's guy if the Heated Grip in stock is one of the new styles. Harley keeps upgrading them so they can get out of the warranty heated grip replacement business!! Between the digital oil dipstick and heated grips they keep coming out with a newer versions.

The best fix is change them out for the Heat Demons they work better and most of all you can just use them and not have to travel back and forth to the Dealer just to get another set that will most likely fail again. Jim can help you with them.

I looked at these. It appears that they add a thumb switch to the handlebars. ??? I'd like to keep the stock appearance and grips.

They do add a switch that is part of a replacement clamp.  While obviously not OE it's not an obvious addition.  Really looks like it belongs there.  It's a less obtrusive addition than is the knob at the end of the HD branded heated grips.

if you get the chrome switch/clamp, they'll blend into the chrome controls so well, nobody will notice. you can use any grips you like
w/ heat demons. it's not the grip that heats.

But the switch is chrome and has tiny little led lights and you don't have to twist the knob at the end of the grip. Oh but I did get a new set of grips.

Does anyone know if there is a new part number? Is there a "-09" or "-10"?

Hells bells AJ, some of the originals are up revision ZZXXIV and they still don't work worth a damn.  Just because it's a new outer look with a new number doesn't mean they made the inside any better.

Well, being that mine melted and slid off, I got a first hand look at the inside. It wasn't pretty. Actually all it is is two thin wires wrapped around the handlebar. I guess the theory is that the wires short out and create heat.
