Here is an "internal" look of the police locks.

I've always been curious of that too. It's take a pretty bold SOB to try and pull that off, but I'm sure it happens. I personally haven't heard of it or don't know anyone it's happened too.

Not bags.  But had a detachable tour pak lifted from the red bike when it was a year old or so.  On a shopping mall parking lot.  Another reason to hate shopping malls.

I have leather bags and sometimes worry about that.
What if anything can one do to put ones mind at ease?

My HOG Chapter brought up this issue as several bags were stolen in our area. Even if locked the lid can be easily popped.  One solution is to get rid of the quick release bolts. Another solution is to have "police locks" installed (keyed the same as all the other locks).

i don't think these locks will stop someone popping the retaining clip (with screwdriver) off the mounting bolt as someone posted here earlier. I actually looked at this and can see how easy and quick that little thief trick could be.  :confused5:

Did you have locks on the quick release, curious how those hold up under a thief  :nixweiss:

Would probably deter a certain % of thieves.  Maybe the ones who just see a opportunity with no one around and take a chance to slip it off and into the van.  Stupid, sad, but probably happens.......as per Don.  spyder

Yea but if a thief sees my bags with the police locks parked next to bike without them I bet my bags will be left alone. Then the thief has the hassle of trying to get into the bag itself with the police locks.
