2008 FXSTSSE2----has anyone used the thundermax with auto tune?
« on: October 06, 2009, 10:21:51 PM »

2008 fxstsse2 -- was wondering if anyone had any feedback on the Thunder Max with auto-tune. the bike only has 472 miles on it. my dealer says a power commander would be fine, but any other mods, it would have to go back on the dyno. also any feedback on rush slip ons, cycle shack, etc. I'm looking for sound and performance. the louder the better. any info would be greatly appreciated. also has anyone pulled the baffles out of the stock pipes and added torque/reversing cones to scavange the exhaust gases? need to tune it to get the temps down, open to any info.

Had thunderMax with autotune on my '07 FXSTSSE....
needless to say, I now have the TTS Mastertune and have a much better running bike!

the ThunderMax was "autotuning" itself out of a good tune, and would intermittently pop throught the intake when the throttle was opened really fast and then closed.
called Zippers about the issue and they said "don't blip the throttle".....
I ripped that POS out and bought the TTS Mastertune, and it imedately ran better! :2vrolijk_21:

A buddy of mine has the Autotune for his power commander v and is very pleased with it. Just another option and not an answer to your question though.

I used the T Max with auto tune for a few painful months...but no longer.

Another member - I think his name is T W O L A N E R I D E R used the TMax w/autotune for awhile also.  Might ask him his opinion of the experience....   ::) ???

thanks for the input, both good and bad ---- called them today and asked if there were any issues with their auto tune of course they said no, but they also said to load a base map as close as you can to your set up then go from there. he also said the r&d dept. was adding more modified maps, this after some of their base maps just weren't right for some common set ups. at least they were honest about their maps not being configured right. ordered one today from m&m cycles for a decent price, actually the best price I've seen so far. once again thanks for the input. will post the results after the install

Give yourself an early Christmas present and get a TTS mastertune... You will have a great running bike and get great mpg. You can also retune yourself if you make more changes later. TTS was the best band for the buck I have gotten in a long time. Also, check out muffler baffles from FullSac....

Ditto on Mastertune & Fullsac. You get a package exhaust with map that has been developed and verified on a dyno

I used ThunderMax with AutoTune on a 103 CC 2008 with pretty good results. However, I  like MaterTune and the 2010 much better.
