What "Portable Lifts" will work with a SEEG?
« on: December 13, 2005, 11:44:25 AM »

Need a little help finding a lift/jack that will fit under a SEEG..........

I've got a Handy air table lift already with a sissor jack for the garage but ideally I'd like to buy something for when I roll it outside for a good washing and detailing. (I'd like to be able to spin both wheels at the same time when its up on the lift).

***The issue I've been running into is I can't find anything that drops low enough to get it under the bike.*** Stability is also a major consideration.

My wife has been hounding me for idea's of what I want from Santa this year and this is one item I could use. I did a site site search but came up empty.......sooo what are the options out there these days ???

Thank you for you insight!

Try searching by "motorcycle jack" or "bike jack" or "SEEG jack."  I know they've come up before.  Most guys have talked about having to put a board under the front wheel to get enough clearance.  Oddly enough my old one words, just barely.

If I hold the bike upright the jack will slide underneath.  But not if it's on the kickstand. Can't help you with a name though.  Was something I bought at Sam's years ago and the only name on it is "Lift."

Also know for sure this lift worked with the stock 12" shocks instead of the 12.5 that are on it now as I used the lift to change the shocks right after the bike came home the first time.

Most all of the MC lifts will fit under the frame on the SEEG. On some bikes my lift is a bit tall so I just roll the front and or rear tire onto a 2x6 to get the lift under. Don't get a really cheap one though as they are not really stable. I know that some members tried the aluminium one from sears and returned it.

My Sears motorcycle jack will not fit under either of my SEEGS without doing some kind of gyration to lift it a bit first.  It did go under my ultra just fine though :).  My buddy has one from Costco that works well.

I've found with my SEEG (stock lowered suspension) that my lift won't clear the left frame rail while the bike is on the jiffy stand, so I either place a block of wood under the stand or I position the lift as far as possible under the bike, then sit on the bike (level) and final position and pump the lift with my foot until it raises just enough to support the bike.

This link looks interesting:  http://www.motorcyclejacks.com/MAL-2.shtml

Anyone familiar with this unit?  Collapsing to 2 1/2 inches, it should squeeze under a SEEG.

It looks like a very complete unit.  Oh, and if you order it by midnight on December 20, you can get two free ratchet straps (valued at $25.95)--can you say "markup", boys and girls??  Still, it seems like a good value overall.

You might want to take a look at the Direct Lift XLT http://www.directlift.com/auto_lifts/index.html   I recently replaced my Handy with one and have been quite impressed.  You may not be able to see in the photos, but the front of the base is on wheels and the rear sets on a stabilizer bar.  I move mine around  the shop easily and also out the door for a complete wash/detail.  In addition to the lift, I use their Blackjack model to alternately lift the front and rear wheels for cleaning and service.  Just getting too damn old to be crawling around the floor working on scooters.  Depending upon where you get it, should be around $550.  If you need any other pics, let me know and I'll snap a couple and post.

I have the Sears steel model and have the same problems as everyone else. Last week in the paper sears offed an aluminum cyclle atv jack that started at 3 inches. Haven't seen it yet but it sounds like a winner. Around 150 if memory serves

A few tried it when it was first released a few months ago.
