I bought mine from this outfit, http://www.jsjacks.com/ , there was a video showing this guy pushing the bike around on the jack wheels and crawling all over it.  I was impressed.  It works great and doesn't need straps.  I still don't do what the guy did in the video.  It fits right into the bowtie and the balance is perfect.

Great responses so far many thanks to all!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I forgot to mention in my original post that I have no desire to have to jimmy-jack around with piece's of wood in order to use a lift. Again safety, stability and one unit properly designed to do the job right is ideally being sought.

Does it currently exist in today's market?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Wanted to let you guys know I called these guys at http://www.jsjacks.com.   They are going to test their lift with the Deuce, Road King and the SEEG and are considering to offer a Group Buy for us here.   I gave the owner the website address and hopefully they will make a post / offer to us for those interested.   He is supposed to call me back after he checks the models to be sure it does clear all of the bikes.   Their lift is 1 inch lower than the Sears and I really don't want to mess with the boards to get it to work.

Crawdaddy do you have to do any gyrations to get the lift under your Nanner ?

Thanks,

I have both jacks from sears the steel on did not go low enough so I bought the aluminum one works good for seeg. One thing I don't like is when you go down you have to be careful because it goes down too fast.

I wish i had one of those as i just experenced my first dump when my SEEG fell off my jack stand this past week.  I was removing all my body
pieces and was taking off the last piece (the fairing) and when i pulled it off the weight must of transfered enough it fell off to the right side of the bike. I was lucky..... if theres any luck in this happening in that the only damage was to the right side exhaust and the timing cover.  I got my piece of crap lift from Harbor Freight and tool.
If we do a group buy on that J & S sign me up.......

Otis, I'm with you.

Hubbard--do you have the J&S jack shown in the promotional information on their site?  I don't get it--the video shows big guys making like monkeys all over big bikes on the stand with no instability, yet your stand started bending and pulling apart with just your (admittedly hefty) bike on it?  This doesn't add up.  I can't see trying to arrange a group buy of this even if each one came with the 'Hubbard reinforcement kit' installed....unless I'm missing something.

I'm beginning to wonder if the solution may just be to buy a second "sissor jack".  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Would placing one just behind the wishbone and one as far forward as possible under the frame do the trick ???? I suppose raising and lowering them simaltaneously would be a challenge though........

The market seems to currently offer little to meet the objective's being sought......

I like the J&S option best so far but if it doesn't come from the factory with the "Otis Reinforcement Kit" seems I may be heading for T.R.O.U.B.L.E downstream............

Fatboy -

I want to understand.  Have you looked at the link I posted earlier?  I would think that the lift advertised there would meet your needs.  The only negatives mentioned by those who have used one are that it isn't good for oil changes (but you have another, heavier-duty lift which should be good for those), and that there is a slight flex to the unit when a bike is on it.  Again, you have the heavier-duty deal to keep the bike stable during more strenuous work on the bike, and you seemed to be looking for something that moves around easier for washing/detailing duties.  Also, I am not sure that the unit Grover owns hasn't been modified/improved during the four years since he purchased his.  I'd like to hear your concerns about this unit (which I am seriously considering plunking down the cash for).

I was surprised that I didn't since our bikes are supposed to be an inch lower.  I slip it right in under the frame with the left bar under the bowtie and it is great.  I has a foot pedal to operate the jack and up it goes.  If you saw the video, the scarey part is when the jack gets to the bottom, the bike starts to lean on the jiffy stand.  It makes me swallow real hard even though I know the stand is in the right position

Here's maybe the major problem here:  We're talking apples and oranges.  I'm not sure that any of the criticisms/disadvantages described above apply to the current models.  The only solution is for us to come up with a list of 3 or 4 models we'd most like to check out, write the manufacturers, request that they supply samples free of charge to 5 or so members for a limited period of time, after which the 5 or so testers will write up their findings and 'publish' their reports on this hallowed site where that information will be accessible to over 1,000 members and gazillions of lurkers and other casual readers....in other words, free publicity out the yin-yang.  I'm only slightly kidding.
