Susan, as you become a more comfortable rider, you will learn that most of the time (level ground, good surfaces) you only need to put one foot down, the left one. The right foot will stay up on the floorboard with your foot on the brake pedal to keep the bike from moving.

And don't forget Susan......head up, eyes up and in the parking lots (slow speed) don't use your front brake. :)
