TTS TUNER IN PENNSLYVANIA
« on: October 14, 2009, 11:01:50 PM »

Does anyone have any experience with Dave Stoddard of JD Cycles in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, dyno tuning with Mastertune?

Dave is a great tuner.....he has the passion to do the job correct and the knowledge to know it's done right.  You won't be disapointed with Dave's work.

Hello Doc,
Thanks for the quick response. I have installed Mastertune myself using a map I received from Steve George at Fullsac. Bike runs great, but I thought the frosting on the cake would be to have a final tune done on a dyno. I'm going to JD's on Monday. Now if would only stop snowing in Pennsylvania.

Thanks again

And we got a heat wave: 97 on my deck yesterday!!
It's too hot to ride in the middle of the day, but pretty damn nice in the mornings!

Hopefully you'll keep us posted Tom ... I look forward to reading how this works out for you as I'm keeping my eyes open for an experienced TTS tuner myself.

Thanks,
Howie

that's not VERY high, but he is covering himself in case of issues. Very high would be 12 hours.
If Doc says the guy is a profitient tuner, then that's all I would need.

I would venture a guess here but I'd say 90% of HD dealer mechanics couldn't do a cam change in 8 hours. the thing with the dealer quotes are they are just a questimate. might say 3, bill 6. any mechanic would be foolish to guaranty a price on a job like that unless he has worked on that bike before. ya never know what you're getting into.
but, again, all i'm saying is that If Doc say he's a good tuner then that's enough for me, but only talking tuning.

It likely takes him that long as he is not on the "flat rate" clock. When you find a good guy that really wants every job perfect pay him and save some money in other places. JMHO

Based on Doc's recommendation and a few others, I'm heading to JD's on 10/26 for a TTS V-tune on his dyno. I have no problem paying his hourly fee for his knowledge, use of his shop and equipment and a job done right. Cheaper rarely equals better in my experience. I will post my results when finished.

Dave performed a TTS  tune on my 09 CVO Ultra last month.  Bike runs sweet everywhere in the rev range.  Huge difference in performance.  Job done right the first time and he's a class guy to deal with.

Now that's the reply I was looking for. Thank you Jersey T. I'm going there Monday 10/26 and it sounds like it will be well worth the trip.
