Last Monday (10/26) I made the trip to JD's Cycle and had a V-Tune performed by Dave on my '09 SEUC. The changes I had made to the bike prior were a non-cat 96" header, 1 3/4" Fullsac baffles, TTS Mastertune with a map from Steve George at Fullsac Performance. I had put 3000 miles on the bike with this setup both one and two up in varying roads from NY to North Carolina and the bike was running great. Since Fullsac's dyno is in Arizona I did want to assure that the tune is correct for the climate here in the North East.
Well worth the trip. Dave is a fine person, a confirmed motorhead, with a honest desire to do the job right and stand behind his work. He really knows what he is doing with Mastertune and his dyno and was happy to educate me step by step thru the tune.
I have driven the bike all week and a great running bike is running better. Smooth power and great throttle response everywere. 40 to 45 mpg and cool and quieter engine.
As far as getting a good bang for your buck, this combo can't be beat:
      1 3/4" Fullsac baffles     $119.00
      TTS Mastertune           $379.00
96" No-Cat Header        Case of Bud

Thanks again to Dave at JD's Cycle, good job!!

Tom,

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost for the tune?  I am in Vermont and would consider a drive down and getting professional tune using the TTS.

I find that rather surprising. Hard to believe any tuner "worth his salt" wouldn't take a baseline dyno run before tuning a bike. If he didn't take a "before" run, you'll never know if he just moved the power curve around or actually made changes that resulted in improvements in both dyno measured power/tq as well as "seat-o-pants" responsiveness. Very surprising....

He did a number of pulls during the tune including base line. I was refering to prior to the visit to JD's.

He charged $68 an hour, spent 4 hours for a total of $272. At my request, lot of that time was spent explaining and demonstrating the features of TTS Mastertune to me. I feel it was well worth it.

Can you share the baseline performance he started with in order to get a better sense of how much the tune improved the performance ?

The cost sounds like a deal to me.  I would be nice to have a professional explain the in's and out's of the software.

I really like dealing with small one owner shops where you can interact one on one with the person working on your ride, two wheel, four wheel or whatever. I have never been comfortable with the dealer type operations where you get the " no one allowed in shop do to insurance regulations" line and the "we'll call you when it's ready". Who knows what goes on back there? I especially love when you make an appointment, drop off the bike, and then it sits in the shop for three days before they even start to do the work.
My visit to JD Cycle was a nice experience, I learned a little more about Mastertune and left with an improved running bike.
I'm happy.

Hello Heatwave,
I have not posted the baseline number's because I don't want to start a discussion about one tuners map vs another's. The bike performed great with map that I first loaded, but since it was developed in another part of the country, on a bike the was somewhat differant than my setup, I felt that using V-tune on a dyno would be the best way to go. The biggest improvement was in the lower RPM ranges and he addressed some pinging issues in the main spark tables.
Now I have a base line chart for my bike's present setup that I can work from for any future modifications.

Sounds like the most recent tune didn't improve the dyno #s over the previous tuning. That's OK but in the spirit of full disclosure while it's nice to be treated well by someone you've paid, it's also important to see the results of your investment. It's good to hear he addressed the knock through the spark advance tables and cleaned up your bottom end performance. Doesn't sound like your original tune using the map from Steve at Fullsac was off by very much and just needed a few minor adjustments. Not surprising as each bike has a few differences in the way it runs. Different fuels and atmospheric conditions can also result in slight performance differences.

Good to hear you're pleased with the results.
