Whitewalls on SEUC????
« on: October 17, 2009, 01:14:10 AM »

Won't be long before I'll need to reshoe the beast as we're talking about riding the Alcan down to the lower 48 next summer.  I ran wide whites on my Heritage and it seemed to fit, though I'm not too sure how they would look on the the CVO Ultra.  I'm kind of leaning towards narrow whites as a trial and perhaps the wide whites later on.  It looks as though most have kept the black walls on theirs.  Does anyone have any pictures with the narrow whites and wide whites for comparison?  Maybe a straw poll??

Thanks much,

Brett

I put narrow whites on my CUSE as soon as it was delivered.  I always thought Ultras without narrow whites were ugly.  Now I've changed my mind, and haven't fitted them since to my Cuse2 or Cuse4...

I think whites fit real well on the Heritage or maybe a Roadking, it suits the style perfectly on the right paint scheme, old school.

I dont see a SEUC in the old styling catorgory..........

IMO whitewalls look best on spoke wheels, but to each their own.

I think wide whites look amazing on a Heritage, Deluxe and Road Kings.  They also look great on some Ultra's depending on the colour combination.

However, I've always felt that the CVO's look best with the black walls.  With the CVO's it's the paint and chrome rims that you want to show off and as soon as you put white walls on a bike, that is where your eye tends to focus on.

Have yet to see a CUSE look good with w/wall tires. Yes, that is my opinion, full bag guards with reflectors look gold wing as well.

Yup.  An everyday Ultra looks good on narrow w/w, but somehow a CUSE just doesn't. (Hence me not doing it again.)

Well, it's pretty much unanimous so far and I tend to agree with you all.  I probably will stay with the black walls for if nothing else they're quite a bit cheaper!  Thanks to all.

I loved the look on my '06 Road King Classic, but keeping them white was A ROYAL PAIN IN THE BUTT, especially on road trips, and when they are dirty the bike looks like hell.

Easy to keep clean with what we call "White Spirit" aka turpentine substitute.  Can't recall what you call it over there - the stuff for cleaning paint brushes, & thinning paint (household paint, not vehicle paint). A wipe with a rag wetted in that keeps them like new, and takes seconds. (Also great stuff for removing tar spots, especially the little ones that get melted on your engine cases - just rub them with a brush dipped in the stuff and they dissolve. Oh, and keeps the black part of your tyres black too! I call it "the wonder stuff" because it has so many uses!)  :2vrolijk_21:

The only bike I think whitewalls look really outstanding on is the Softail Deluxe.  They just seem to fit the retro theme of that bike.

A good thing to keep whitewalls white is Blechley's (sp?) Whitewall Bleach....if they still make it.  That stuff is great.
