Hauled 'er Home!
« on: December 17, 2005, 12:42:54 AM »

Picked up my B&S today!  Bike looked great indoors and outdoors, too.  Unfortunately...was overcast.   Got home tonight and used a flashlight to look it over and chit if the color was off between the lids and saddlebags, and between the inner and outer fairing.  Looked just like the previous photos posted.  Hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow and I can see it better.  Looks like I'm in for it, too.  Sure looks like the pieces are not painted as a unit.  Rode a bit, too, and immediately noticed how poor the headlight is.  Cold start was rough (died once). Seemed OK once warmed up.  Aftermarket will solve most of the problems, but it's a pisser for such a high dollar bike!  Photos to come when I download camera (and figure out how to post).

Terribly sorry about the color mismatch.  Got to say that with all the stories to date I wouldn't even consider taking one of these off a dealer's lot without getting to see it under klieg lights first.

If the general experience is anything to go by the cold start issue will be taken care of with things that you are very likely to do anyway (exhaust, AC and  proper tuning).  So hopefully that's not a big issue.  Can't help but to agree with the summary though, for what they cost they ought to be perfect before delivery.

Well after reading all the posts on paint Problems, I went out last night and took a better look at mine, and chit if I don't have the same problems, under the light I saw the milky clear and right by the inner and outer fairing there is a line where the good paint meets the bad paint. lids are also a different color then the bags, I can't belive I did not notice this before. I went to the dealer today and was told by the service Mgr, to bring it in and he will take pics and send them to the motor company, he also told me that with 06 bike they will replace all the bad paint with good , we will see. Dam I am pissed.

good luck with your new ride....... ride safe and enjoy
