Just traded my 09 SG for a new SERG!
« on: October 19, 2009, 02:10:42 PM »

This all started as a trip to the dealer Saturday morning to get a tshirt.  Saw this Silver/Titanium SERG sitting over in the corner and couldn't get it out of my mind all day.  WOW what a bike!!

Now to start getting the reflectors and all the stickers off.  What's the consensus here on the saddle bag reflectors?  Take them off?  I assume I can just use a hair dryer to heat them up just like on the forks?  Any tips to ensure I don't damage the paint?

Take the reflectors off!!!!  Check out this thread it will give you some ways of removing them without damaging the paint.

Congrats on your beautiful new ride!  Looks AWESOME!

I'm sure you'll have no problem removing the unwanted reflectors from your bags without damaging the paint.  The trick is to take it slow and easy.  Don't rush it.  I removed the 105th numbered logo from my side cover on my '08 Duracell using a heat gun (which heats up much faster than a hair dryer) and the paint looks like new... No problem at all.  I have since reinstalled the emblem on my rear fender.

Good luck!

Thanks guys!  One thing I just noticed is that after you sit on the seat it doesn't quite reach the tank console.  I assume they are all like that.  Any fixes?

Thanks for the link!  Looks like It's too late to get in on the new brackets but maybe Harley will really fix this.  Not going to hold my breath though.
