110 Can it be Bored out??
« on: October 20, 2009, 09:57:50 PM »

Hey Guys,

Just wonder Can one take the stock 110 S.E. Cyls. and bore them out with some pistons from Zippers etc... and go over size, Just wonder what would be the biggest one can bore out to and what size engine would it be now?

Thanks

The man who does my work bores them .010 over to straighten from hd and said right now that ten over are only pistons availible and jugs don't have much meat left to go bigger.     jdo

  Hmm
Had thought maybe one could bore the Jugs out and maybe get it to a 112  or 114 area  guess theres no meat in there to do that then...

I wouldn't even consider trying to bore a stock 110 cylinder oversize, the liner's are too thin.  If you want to go oversize, buy good jugs from someone like Axtell.

Has anyone installed the 117" kit? If so what heads, cams and Tuner did you use. What were your dyno results? Were you satisfied with it. Any issues with this kit? Did you go to a bigger throttle body?

Talk to Jeff (Black Diamond). He's got a 117 now from his 110. ;)

NOPE!
As per an email from Rev Per, "Our 117' & 124" kits still require case boring."

Just called Rev Perf.

I called based on their website that wasn't clear as to whether the cases on a 110 need to be bored to fit the 117" cylinders.

Here is what their website showed.

Quote
Big Bore Kits for the 110cid motors

We are excited to introduce these new cylinders specifically designed for the Screamin EagleĀ® 110 cid motors. They come in 117 cid and 124 cid sizes and are powder coated with the granite color to look like it came from the factory. The screaming will come from the bikes you leave behind!

Call today toll-free 1-866-892-2109!

Description Contents Styles Price (U.S.) Buy Online
117 cid cylinder/piston kit for 110 cid Screamin Eagle motors
4.125" bore Revolution cylinders, 10.5:1 forged pistons, pins, clips, rings, head and base gaskets Granite $1109.95
124 cid cylinder/piston kit for Screamin Eagle motors
4.25" bore Revolution cylinders, 10.5:1 forged pistons, pins, clips, rings, head and base gaskets Granite $1109.95

I called the 1-866 number above.
Talked with "Andrew", he said the 117" cylinders did require case boring to work on a 110.
Not sure whether "Andrew" was the owner or the floorsweeper but he seemed somewhat knowledgeable.
All I can say is DAMN, so much for that idea.

I stand corrected.  Early on when they first were introducing the kits I had conversations with Rev on the case boring. The 117's were not going to require it but they found that the cylinder skirt would be too thin.
