Boatman,
I want to thank you for bringing the Clearview shields to our attention [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] I was all set to get another HD shield so it was right on time for me [smiley=drink.gif] to you!

Got an email in response to some questions I had and he said there is a price increase 2-1 so sounds like a day to order before the price goes up.  May help some make up their minds.

Well I got out with mine today for a short spin to test out some mods. The taller of the two I got was on at the time (12") and while riding I put my hand just behind the shield and slowly raised it up to see how far above the shield the air flow was. At 50 mph I got my hand up 5 1/2" before my finger tips felt the air flow :o :o :o Another big plus is that in the direct sunlight the shield had no visual deflections even at the air curve there was only a very slight one, but not worth talking of. So I give the Clearview company a

I'll take off my 12" and put on the 8" for the next run out to see if that one is as good. I hope that it is with the clarity more over the flow. But I'll let you know.

Im ready to order, I like the low profile of the 8" but dont want to waste $$ if i need a taller one, I'll call today and talk to them about my model bike, hieght etc., I plan on getting a corbin seat made (as soon as I pay of current upgrades), so dont want too tall a winshield...JC, After your ride home yesterday in the rain, Im betin you wish you had taller one then??. Good meeting you Saturday bro.

Hi cigarmike,
The shield height for you can be determined fairly easy. Sit on your bike and use a yardstick that is resting on the top edge of your fairing (at the base of the windshield in the center). You then get in a your normal riding position and move your hand up the yardstick until your hand is just below your normal straight ahead view.(Usally about at the tip of your nose). Then check the yardstick to get the right height shield. You may want to subtract an inch from that to account for a long day in the saddle which may produce slouching. ;D That is the nice thing about the euro lip though, if your measurement was on the short side the lip will force the air up as if the shield was an inch or two taller.

I ordered an 8" and a 9.5"....going to send back the 9.5 if the 8" works fine, trouble is, they are 4-5 weeks behind production.

No, wearing a full face (flip face) helmet, that isn't an issue for me.  I was prepared, had the rain suit so I got home totally dry........but it's still miserable riding in it.

I liked Jim's comment.......said he thought about trailering his bike down for that run, because of the rain......but didn't know anybody who owns one to borrow it from. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Yea, it was good meeting you, too.  You'd of liked the ride.........we rode through some back roads in the hills (managed to stay off the snow) to a cigar store in Morgan Hill.  I thought of you. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
