Heated Sun Ray seat question
« on: October 22, 2009, 12:08:09 PM »

Do you have one?

If so, is the seat equipped with a "pressure sensor? E.G. heat does not come on until you are sitting on it.

Did yours come with a 110V power supply?

Have you tried hooking up an indicator light other than the HD handlebar unit?

no sensor, if its cold out i turn it on while the bike is warming up.
no 110 supply just the DC connection to the Aux connector
i use the handlebar light, its a 2 pin connection with 3 intesity levels ( i assume done with resistance in the seat ) i would think any LED would work

Why am I not surprised?

$600 retail for a heated seat and you have to buy a $60 LED to show that is is on and what setting is selected :nixweiss:

The Corbin has a better setup. Indicator lights right on the seat and a timer for activation.

My Corbin is wired direct to the fuse box. Greta for those coled nights when you have frost on the seat. You can "pre-warm the seat.

Neal - got any pics of what the HD unit looks like up close? Do you have the bigger bars on yours?

So you have to buy a housing AND an indicator?

How about a picture or two - three- think you can figure out how to post pics  :nixweiss:

Are the switches for accessories or the seat. The seat I got only has one control.

I checked to see if the "LED" circuit was a variable voltage. It's not, looks like the control works the same as the heated gear, by stepping the voltage.

Wonder if the LED and its PCB could be mounted independent of the housing could be   :nixweiss:

And it looks like the only thing stopping it from mounting on bigger bars is a Dremel.

i use the switch on the seat, just the indicator in the switch housing. i thought you could make it work on bigger bars until i saw how it mounts.

back side. i was making it internally wired

front with a switch

it replaces the clamp to the clucth/front brake lever
