Revised Ship Date

Was at the dealership last night for our chapter Christmas party when I asked the sales manager what he new about the black and slate paint issues he said he hadn't heard of any,  then he said he had gotten a ship date for mine of Feb 10.  That is the first ship date that they have given before it was Dec 2005 no date.  So he said dosen't sound like there is a paint issue??  Guess we will see how things progress.

That's pretty good news Mr. Magoo

I was at the local HD dealership on Saturday, cooking hamburgers and a load of scooters were being dropped off.
Yeah the owner of the dealerships 2006 B & S CUSE was delivered, I took a quick peak at the scooter inside the shop at about closing time and couldn't tell if any of the paint had issues.

mr. m, glad that you got a date.  I hope to get one my self soon, and btw, Feb 10 would be  a good date for me as that's my BIRTHDAY!!

Hmmmm.... This would be interesting to follow closer.  You should follow up with the dealer and see if he did have issues.  I wonder how he would handle it? (as if I have to ask!)

Was at the dealer today getting the front wheel replaced (peeling chrome) and asked if they had checked the ship date, he said he would and came back and said it had changed again and now shows 2-8 ship date.

Checked last weekend and mine now has a 2-15 ship date.....

Well lets hope they have addressed the paint issue.  If its bad out of the box not sure what I'll do.

I agree.  I picked mine up and was in the garage for a month before I looked close enough to notice the issue thanks to this site.  There is still times that I need to get the spotlight out to see it.  Had I seen this at the dealer things would have been different.  I turns out that they are working with me anyway to get this resolved.  Only time will tell.

I bet that is a hard question for many folks to explain or defend. Why would someone buy a "Not perfect" bike at such a high price?
I would have to guess many reasons;
1.The very long wait ,anitcipation and excitement builds.
2.Knowledge that it's limited availability, if they don't buy it the next person on the list will.
3. Faith in H-D, whether it's the dealer or MOCO, that it will work out.(Correct belief or not)
4. Blame it on the weather, pick-up made in the cold ,wet, or darkness of winter and it's not seen at delivery.

There may be other factors as well that someone with direct knowledge will be able to pass on to us.
I think after waiting 5,6 or more months it would take a couragious person to pass on their "Dream Bike" for a paint issue knowing that their dealer will sell it to the next person and you may not get a bike.
I had to do that somewhat when I got the call of my local dealer getting in one of the first 2006 FHLTCUSEs in the area and I could buy it if I wanted. It was a watermelon color one though and I turned it down to wait for the possible arrival of an Autum Haze. I could not leave a deposit and had no idea when or if my dealer was going to get one in.
After about 6 months it came in but I bet i drove my dealership crazy with my calls and visits weekly.
Look at the peeling chrome and other issues for 2005 and earlier bikes yet people still buy them , they seem to be holding their value and many happy times can be had on them by many people.

I do feel since this is the most expensive bike they make and it's supposed to be the top of the line it should have the most testing and quality control of any bike they make. That paint defect should have been caught during assembly and never left York. As well as the CB transmitting problem,wasn't it tested at York also?

i doubt a small paint discrepancy would be found at the factory, having been there the lighting produces lots of shadows on the floor

Must say VAEagle that I actually feel real lucky with the 05 bike.  The 04 guys had all those peeling chrome issues.  Now the 06 riders have this terribly difficult and repetitive paint issue to contend with.  In 05 we really had no systemic problem.  Just realized, maybe the lesson here is that with each new rendition of the hand-built low volume CVO cycles the second year of each two year cycle is the one to go with.  Gives them the first year to figure out what they've done and get the product right.  First year of each cycle is just a beta test.

Interesting perspective, but my husband had no issues with his 04 bike for a year, he loved it so much he bought me mine.  So we did not know about problems at all for quite some time.  But even though the getting it tuned in right is a pain in the butt, I think those of us who did have a couple of hiccups along the way, are happy in the end.  I know I love my bike. And of course, the red is the best of all of them, so what is not to be happy with, right?  Sorry, just had to add that last part.  Bottom line, I think someone will end up ponying up the right answers and all will be made right.  They are all gorgeous bikes and ride fantastic.  IMHO of course.   :D ;)

I hope it's shipped on time. My Haze was supposed to have been shipped on 12/28. I got confirmation yesterday that is has been shipped and will be arriving within 3-4 days
