Iron Butt Bun Burner Gold
« on: October 29, 2009, 11:59:19 PM »

Yesterday I completed my 3rd Iron Butt ride this year. This was the extreme 1,500 miles in less than 24 hours, the Bun Burner Gold. Started at 6 p.m. at Tucson, AZ HD, where I got my two witnesses to sign the form and check my odometer, rode east to Ft. Stockton, TX, then back west to El Cajon HD near San Diego. I passed 4 deer in the night, had to stop an hour because of pelting rain at Deming, NM, faced 30-40 mph headwinds the whole way west from Texas, but I arrived with 45 minutes to spare. The guys at El Cajon HD are really nice and were my end witnesses.

I previously submitted paperwork and forms to Iron Butt Association for the SaddleSore 1,000 & the SaddleSore 3,000 (3,000 miles in 3 days) awards. It's been almost 3 months since I submitted those last two applications and still haven't heard anything. Anyone else finding Iron Butt to be very slow in processing?

I did a BBG in 2006 on my 2005 SEEG and it took almost 18 months to get the paperwork and merchandise. I think they've become much quicker nowadays ;-). You can always write an eMail to Mike, if you are in a hurry about the certificate.

Ride safely,
Louis

Congratulations on your achievement.  They are volunteers that check stuff and it was a busy summer so it takes a while.  My first bun burner we had 23 minutes to spare.

Wow 3 iron butt rides in one year!  :orange:

It took me at least a year and a half to get my certificate. That's with emails and phone calls.
