09 license plate bracket
« on: October 31, 2009, 03:36:03 AM »

I want to get rid of the license plate mount on the 09 tour pak, is that bracket a support mount for the tour pak and amp. I would like use a curve plate frame. Any help would be great.

I just did this a couple months ago.

All you have to do is unscrew (4 screws) the TP from it's frame (underneath you TP liner), place it on you seat or somewhere close because the wires will restrict you a bit. (you could disconnect all wires if you wanted to)

Take yourself a Saber (Jig) saw, use a brand new Bi-Metal blade (or the like) and cut the bracket. I cut mine at about a 45 degree angle. You'll see how simple this is once the TP is off.

Honest once the TP is off it takes like 2 minutes.

And this is what you will get.

Okay thanks I'm going to try it , I see (Grinner) installed the curve luc plate on his FLHXSE and I like it. So once I take off the tour pak it's easy, so the amp is still supported?

How did you mount those antennas? Did you have to remove the filler strips.

Can you show a close up shot of that, I would be interested to know/see

Sure PM me, i just finished the rear this morning. I just took some pic's, but it's in the garage and it's not the best; sorry.  DickW told me to remove the tour pak (TP) that was the best way to do it. Four bolts. and you move the tour pak, I didn't remove the wires just leaned it forward.

Now the lic.plate bracket is welded to another bracket which is the TP bracket. The rear 2 bolts are uses the secure TP to license plate frame. I used a Dermal tool and cut the license plate frame welds. The forward 2 bolts is what secure the amp and the TP frame. So If you don't used something to secure the rear bolts the TP frame it can raise up; so I went to Lowe's and got electrical EMT clamps 3/4 in. Bolt one end to the TP rear bolt and the other end to TP frame. Also I put some padding on the EMT clamp not to leave or scratch the chrome or the TP
