Hot Toppers cover up the non-chrome bolt heads on the bike.  It makes a huge difference.

Ok. Thanks for the input guys. (even the stripper. lol) I am getting a serg air cleaner. I ordered the 110 insert. He has been drooling over it since I got it. And I bought a dual tuner from Steve, and down loaded it in his bike. He should be happy.

Fireguy, I gave my SERG a/c to a buddy with an SEUC and he loves it!  You don't have to get the insert though.  If you take a dremel tool, you can grind the back of his SEUC insert to make it fit.  It's plastic so be careful but the finished look is much better than the stock "football."  You can see it in the pic below, second bike.

$.02:  The hot toppers look fine but are covers which must be taken off and on each time any work is done on the bike.  More labor and once that's done not likely to stay on well.  I have always purchased a Gardner-Wescott "builders kit" of stainless steel, chromed allen bolts for my bikes.  The kit costs less that the toppers but does take longer for the initial install.  Once done, however, you're done and it looks great.  JMHO.

There are pros & cons to each. The best [IMHO] (which is what I use) is a combination of both. Yes, the Hottopers have to be removed when you need access to a bolt. On a new bike, under warranty, you shouldn't need anything replaced. If you do, it's the dealer's responsibility to put them back on. HT will replace for free any part that is lost or damaged. Certain bolts will almost never be removed or adjusted and can therefore be covered. Another advantage is the they are covers and the underlying bolts do not need to be re-torqued. Some bolts, such as the ones for the floor boards and highway pegs, look better with the chrome bolts. I personally like the looks of the HT on the primary and transmission cover. The choice is yours, but I would definitely do something to cover those ugly zinc bolt heads.
Hope this has helped spend just a little bit of your money.

Gotta agree with AJ on covering or replacing the stock zinc bolts. They look terrible in a matter of months and it's a great improvement in the overall appearance of your scooter to eliminate that corroded look.  All wrenches (that I know) despise the Hot Toppers due to the obvious time waste and where possible I prefer the polished SS instead of chromed fasteners due to no 'chipping' and subsequent rusting.  Full 'kits' are a pretty economical way to change out.  Diamond makes them as do others.  JMHO.  :) spyder

Regarding the Hot Toppers, I don't like the plastic ones that you have to silicone on and sometimes fall off.  Pay the extra money and buy the metal ones (a lot more money but infinitely reuseable).   The plastic ones can also be damaged removing them to take a bolt out if need be.

I have a 2009 SERG but my buddy has a 2009 SEUC. He is doing some work with me at my house and I would like to get him something for his bike. Performance stuff is all done, so looking for something else to buy. Any ideas from you folks would be great. Pictures always welcome. Thanks.
