Windows 7 and Microsoft security essentials q's for the Gurus
« on: November 07, 2009, 08:46:37 AM »

For the PC gurus here

Opinions?
I hate vista and have been keeping my laptop and pc running with XP.

I don't know how MS essentials compares to other AV programs, but it seems to do it job.

My wife's laptop has vista - what a pain.

Is it worth upgrading to Win 7, over XP - over vista?

Is MS security essentials all it is cracked up to be?

Without question Windows 7 is superior to Vista and it has many features better than XP.
Pending your hardware it should run fine, and give you some of the newer menus and designs, quite similar to Apple PC's. You will also have better security than with XP, for sure.
Microsoft Security Essentials seems to be a good solution, and well built in. If it is going to be better for you than McAfee or F-Secure or, or, ?? - That is almost impossible to tell.

Ride safely,
Louis

I have Windows 7 running on 2 machines. One was a Vista box and it runs much better with Win7. The other was XP and Win 7 seems run just as well with no negligible issues so far. I am testing to see whether or not to deply on the new batch of laptops for the Sept 2010 students that come into the school.
