08 vs 09 mufflers
« on: November 10, 2009, 04:27:47 PM »

Howdy,

Does anyone know if a stock muffler off of an 08 SE Ultra will fit an 09 SE Ultra? I'm wondering if there was a dimension change with the new frame or if it's just a CAT thing.

I've helped swap out a couple of these.  They fit but you probably don't want to run three cats.   :huepfenlol2:   :huepfenlol2:   :huepfenlol2:   :huepfenlol2:

Oh hell no. The cats are going into the trash. I was just wondering if there was a difference in the muffler bodies that would cause the 08 muffs not to fit the 09 bike.

The 09 muffs are going to be saved and the 08 ones converted to Fullsac. Yes that header cat is out of here too.

Just a cat thing, and those come out with the baffle, they will work perfectly.

A couple of things I'm sure of.
I had a D&D Fatcat from an 08 SEUC that I tried to use on my 09 SEUC.
Didn't bolt right up.
With the wider tire on the 09 and I suppose the new frame/swingarm I had to "dimple" the inside of the D&D muffler.
After that all was fine.

If the 08 SEUC mufflers are "dimpled" like the 09 SEUC mufflers are then I would think there would be NO clearance issues.
Here are a couple pictures of the stock 09 SEUC system, note the "dimpled" area on the inside where the axle would be if they were mounted on the bike.
Hope this helps.

And this one has nothing to do with this thread but while I was there I couldn't resist.

Thanks guys,

Hey SBB, it appears you have those muffs mounted to repel any invaders into your garage. Sort of like a CVO Death Ray. Sweet!

CVO mufflers from 06-2010 are all the same once the guts are removes. The bodies are identical and interchangable.
