Motorcycle Lifts
« on: November 10, 2009, 05:55:56 PM »

I would like to buy a lift but not sure what brand. I need a large one so my son can use it for his mowers. He has zero turn mowers that he works on so I guess one that is wide. Any ideas and pics would be nice. Thanks

If he uses Toro or Exmark, he can get a drive up stand that mounts on the front of the mower, I had that and loved it.  If he is picking up the rear of the mower a good higer lift floor jack will work, but vehicle ramps work better.  I never tried using my J&S on the mowers. Exmark 48, Toro 60, Exmark 72.

Dude sorry I had another question, is there a major benefit to having a base on the bottom that side on the floor?

I have the older style Handy Lift, it is approx. 15 years old, Only maintenance replacing O Ring in air cylinder and foot valve, very easy process. Have upgraded with the ramp and side panels, really great when you are riding bike up by yourself or backing down. Also, newer style wheel vise.

Excuse the mess, lift empty, bike in Phoenix for the winter.

Hey Geezerglide, just one question, why did you replace the front wheel vise?

I have the same lift with the original vise, just wondered what the advantage would be for the new style.

Hope all is well, will miss seeing the old bike with you in Sturgis.

Brad,

I did not like the way the older triangular cast vise gripped the front wheel, it did not seem to grip the wheel as securely. Plus the Handy Distributor gave me a great discount and I sold the older vise for almost what I paid for the new one.

Good to hear from you how are things Michigan?

I've got the Handy lift (air) and can't say enough good things about it.  You can just buy one of the side extensions if you want.  Quick detach.

Cheers, Moe
