CVO Production for 06 and 07?
« on: December 27, 2005, 12:49:55 PM »

What do you guys think............will they make as many Screamin Eagle Ultra Classics as they did Screamin Eagle Electra Glides.  Or more importantly, will they (the dealerships) be able to sell more? [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  What do you guys think?

They will make and sell more.  Through the years, production has steadily been going up on the CVOs and they've added more and more models.  Any reversal of that trend and somebody would get fired.

With all the delays in getting 06s out the door, compounded with continued delays on only now admitted paint problems, they might even have some consequential level of parts allocation left at the end of the production year.  Got to keep building in 07 just to use up the parts.

Unfortunately I think your right. I would like to see them throttle back on the CVO production. As it continues to increase the exclusivity is becoming less and less :-/

No disrespect Jim, but at least for me, screw the exclusivity.  I got it because it gave me palpitations when I first saw it.  Nothing more and nothing less.  If they made only a very few we wouldn't have the community of people that is this website or be able to The Gatherings.  The price they hang them will dictate a much smaller production than "stock" models.  But aside from that limiting factor, if we get a few more guys to ride with so much the better.

I have some mixed thoughts about it all.  Being a stock holder, naturally I want to see production increase.  However, being a little more realistic about it, the market is flooded and they've already had to cut back on production estimates from a year ago.  How will that affect the CVO market? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  Who knows, but it'll be interesting to watch as we approach Aug. (when the 07 models will be announced).

Thumper.... Explain something for me.  What's the attraction of right side drive?

Exclusivity is nice, but I think it comes down to Tim Taylor's adage, 'More Power!'.

As for another SERG....  I think you'll have to wait a few more years...  I was surprised with the SE Ultra.  Seem a contradiction.  And the next SE bagger could very well be the Street Glide.
That would put the next SERG in 2010 or so...   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Anybody else what to make predictions????

People got so cranky leading up to the last model year change trying to make their guesses and "leaks" and other nonsense more valid than that of others that I'm picking the SE ServiCar; again.

With the way the New model sportsters are selling...

I'll have to say the MoCo is in the works for a XL1200RSE1
This would be a big seller to the women that want something unique.

Something in the Dyna line?

I think the Road King Custom or the new Street Glide could be in the works very soon.
But a Road Glide would be the smartest option.

Harleys 88c.i. "Big Twin" is now the smallest "Big Twin" on the martket!!
A 95c.i. should be in all HD production Big Twins.

The 103c.i. should be in the CVO NON-Touring line up.
And the 113c.i. should be in all CVO Touring models, w/6spd of course.

Just my opinions,

Grover

I would not be surprised to see big changes in Harley production within a few years. When you read the series of articles in American Iron as well as other magazines about EPA regulations as well as backlash from some communities about loud pipes etc. There is a clear trend that may hamper the aftermarket/performance crowd in the near future. I have not seen any true figures but I bet the age of the average Harley rider is getting older. When the older crowd starts passing away then the strong demand for the traditional Harley will decline some and it will be the new designs like the V-rod that will attract the younger crowd.I am not a mechanic but I can see that in the near future a V-rod type engine is going to be the only type to satisfy the EPA and "noise police types" yet give the type of performance that many Harley riders desire.
As far as my guess for a CVO type bike I think Harley will try to have one in every class to increase interest. I know in my area the dealers really show how economical the CVO bikes are in the long run and that was a big selling point for me as well as the features and looks. (More bang for the buck) As opposed to buying a stock bike and doing the engine and other upgrades.
Just my .02 though. ;D

as far as the street glide goes i think it's just version of the 04/05 seeg with out all the bells and whistles, and  as far as the rt side drive goes i've had two rt side drive side bikes and they both seemed to be more balanced

Well isn't this the same thought process that brought the MOCO back from the grave in the early 90's besides the EVO.I think it's very cyclical and the supply and demand will work itself out.As for the EPA regs there are some heavy duty changes on the horizon like emissions controls across the board not just California.Because right now you don't need any emissions sticker in my state so you can change anything you want. Thats my 2 cents.  Later,Q

I wonder how much impact the paint problems will have on the number of CVO produced.  With 6-8 weeks of probuction lost it has to affect the numbers they can produce.  2007 will be a new water cooled CVO bagger.
