Interesting, but all they talk about at the beginning of the article is no re-mapping required if you just change the mufflers...nothing about changing the headers.  Also going down the article more, it even points out that the Stage 1 re-map provides and even better increase in torque and horsepower over leaving the ECM at the factory settings.   Kind of a mixed message in that article. I'll stay with remapping my ECM when I change everything out. I've already lowered the AFR on my bike to around 13.9. SO I may be wasting some money (according to Nightrider), but I'll feel better about it.  JMO.

agreed the remap does or can provide a couple percentage points it is not however - required or necessary. Personally I don't feel the need.

The Headers are considered "Included" as part of the exhaust upgrade. Remember until 2009 SERG there were no Cats a clean open head pipe is assumed here.

Its not a waste if you feel you want every last bit you can yield from the mods? It will be needed if you go beyond a Stage1 as I intend to do.

I will be adding a remap with the SEST at the time I port the heads and change the cams. Probably in the spring until then I will likely buy Steve's XIED this month when it gets released. this will bring the AFR to 13.8 closed loop and that mainly to reduce heat not necessarily for the performance although it will have that effect as well.

Don't feel there is a cut and dry right or wrong here just what you prefer?

Has anybody heard the High Output slip ons with stock headers or true duals?

I break 100 Ft. Lbs. of Tq. at 2700 rpms.  Hell, it starts at 90 ft. lbs. of torque.  And....very affordable and still very reliable.  No head work, just a TTS tuner, Fullsac 1.75 baffles and Fueling cams......everything else is stock.  And, it's not to awful loud.......I can actually hear my stereo at freeway speeds.

It's the best money (and least amount) I've spent on performance in 25 years! :2vrolijk_21:  If somebody did this same set up with head work, both numbers woud be way up there.

Look at it here......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=44545.0

My high output slip on should be with me at the end of the month, I think they must be on a very slow boat.

In revisiting your link I am thinking that cam might work for my bike as well.

This is a bolt in and you only changed the cam and bearings? Not pushrods and gaskets or similar?

then retuned.

No headwork, no pushrods, no cometic gaskets.......all that is OEM.  Just cams, Timken inner cam bearings and Fullsac 1.75 baffles and cat removed, TTS tuner and dyno tuned.   Without all the extras (headwork, pushrods, etc.) and getting the same numbers is what makes this so much more affordable.

Guys my head is still spinning on this topic.  Normally I don't suffer from decision making disorders, but this site has me completely messed up ;D  I'm not really in need of any additional preformance, this bike has more than enough to get me where I need to go, I'm more interested in looks and sound at this point.

I've dealt with V&H and Rush in the past and liked them both from a sound perspective.  I also like the idea of the slash forward look for these bikes, so have asked some questions of the guys at Klock Werks.  Rush doesn't make a 4" exhaust, so I think they're out, and V&H doesn't make a slash forward so that puts them on the wait list.

I need more input on this, has anyone heard the Klock Werks exhaust?  Also, is there a difference in sound between the standard V&H and the Performance V&H with stock headers?

Thanks.

Let me understand this......you're more interested in looks and sound vs. performance, correct?

I haven't heard the Klockwerks but I got to see them on several of his bikes at the Drag Specialties trade show (for dealers only) up in Reno last month.  I have to say, that was a good looking exhaust sytem and based on nothing else but looks, that system would be at the top of my list. :2vrolijk_21:

Slash forward.....is that where they follow the lines of the back of the saddle bags?  I like that also......a lot.  If I hadn't stayed with stock exhaust (and Fullsack baffles) I'd have to go with an exhaust that follows the lines of the saddle bags, too.

Again, my primary goal was to have it run as cool as possible, while gaining whatever performance I could as secondary.  The sound would come last for me.  The fact that I only had to change baffles and save a bucket load of $$ was an added benafit.

I know some of you may find it hard to believe but cost has been a deciding factor on all my performance mods.  The only changes in regards to performance were the TTS tuner, Fullsac baffles, Fueling cams and a dyno tune.  I really got off pretty cheap considering what my dyno sheet looks like.
