Well, I think this is the place to introduce myself. Hope so, or I will be spending time reading to myself and looking at my own pictures. I got away from riding for 27 years starting in 1977. Please don't confuse me with math.... Anyway in 2004 I bought my first Harley (always had rice burners before) and picked out a Heritage for 2005. Put 57K on it over 5 years and started looking for a Screamin' Eagle version of it about 3 years ago. After 2 years of wanting a new bike and not having a worthy SE available, I decided that this was the year. Either they make a SE or I will get another Heritage. Well, July 25 comes along and no Heritage SE (why?? can someone really tell me why??) but they have this thing called a Convertible. Just so happens I am going to Sturgis so found one locally that was on order to the dealer but wasn't positive I wanted one or not. Lot of $$ if it isn't what you want. Went to Sturgis and test drove them and after 3 or 4 days and over a dozen rides on various bikes, I called the Stealer on the last day there and told him "book it, dano!" Almost 3 months to the day it came in (my choice of color) and they delivered it into my garage and hauled away my trade-in. Very happy so far but hasnt ventured outside the garage yet. Waiting for that nice day that is daytime so I can familiarize myself with the slightly different handling characteristics than my 05 Heritage and such. Hate to mess up doing something at nightime that wasn't expected. Starting to customize it to me and that will be an interesting venture in itself. Turns out there are a few unique characteristics about this bike that are different from the typical softail (you think???).
I started riding with Christian Motorcyclists Association in October 2004 and my bike has served me very well indeed. Been inside many prisons, all over the streets of Sturgis and Regional Memorial Hospital at Rapid City and downtown Sturgis. Numerous rallys including the West National Rally for CMA in Chama, New Mexico this past summer. Went clear over Wolf Creek Pass and ended up at the feed store in downtown Pagosa Springs........just like the song from CW McCall. ha! Actually I started out at the feed store......
My girlfriend never rode until she rode with me. She is very interested in this new bike as well and understand the concept of chrome being a "precious metal". jAnyway, that being said, there is more that I can put down here from time to time. Oh, I'm from Richland, Washington but just recently made a short tour (by plane) to the deep south (Lousianna). A Yankee lookin' for a Rebel!
