Very rarely, is someone or some small group not picking outback at Luckenbach.  The beer is cheap and cold.

Just come and enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

the possiblities are endless..... the hill country is a nice ride and what better way to get their than river road out of new braunfuels... san antonio is great the river walk is a must see as is the alamo.... austin has six street where the party never ends... corpus christi has the beaches and spring break in march... the lexington is nice but the real attraction is the texas state aquarium in that area.... and the lower valley well it has a little bit of everything south padre island is geat but packed in march with all the spring breakers.... u can always cross into mexico if u feel brave enough.... i suggest u stay off of all the interstate road and used the texas highways more.... their more scenic anyways...by the way if u are in san antonio or south let me know would be nice to meet some fellow cvo'ers....  im very familar with all of south texas ..so ask and ill tell u more... :2vrolijk_21:

Contemplating a Texas BBQ Trail + trip next year - possibly Spring, maybe in Summer.  Probably would ride out to include the 3 Sisters in a West Texas loop, probably would be better Spring than Summer.

Had some BBQ yesterday in Georgia that was EXCELLENT - guy had copied (roughly) the BBQ pit at Saltlick in Driftwood.  Noticed the resemblance & he told me that was where he got the idea.  So my thoughts are running in that direction & it's something the BSR & I have been considering for a few years.  Bluebonnet time would be nice, even.....

Knothead,

We should probably do that.   We have gone to the hillcountry the last five years, for a Bluebonnet ride at that time of year.  It is great place to ride.

pick a date for late March to early / mid  April, And start a new thread....for a 3 day New Braunfels weekend. Ride the Hill Country, eat BBQ and drink beer... I've been staying at the Edelweiss Inn at I-35 and Highway 46. Cheap rates and close to everything...

Coopers in New Braunfels is as good or better than Salt Lick IMHO.

Lots of great rides and their are several great BlueBonnet rides.

We have had a lot of rain and the wild flowers will be back.  Live in Boerne,  Let me know when and I'll join you guys.

I'll keep my eyes open for this event.  We're going to the Hill Country next weekend.  A day on the Sisters and a day to Luckenbach.  :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I think if we get to go, we'll go the the San Antonio area, probably stay a New Braunfels and then ride from there.  Will have to check the weather before we make final plans so we can pick a time in early March that it might be fairly warm-60-70+ hopefully.  That would feel pretty good coming from an Indiana winter and there seems to be a lot to see in that area and good riding.

Any recommendations for places to stay around New Braunfels??  Checked out the Edelweiss Inn but some of the reviews were pretty bad.  Is it that bad?  What about other places?
TIA, Steve

I was concerned about the reviews as well, the rooms are clean but old. Probably built in the 70's and not updated. But hey,New King size beds, park your bike right outside the door, close to everything for $55 a night. There are plenty of fancy hotels in the area for $85 and up.
