Went and did it again!
« on: November 20, 2009, 01:49:29 PM »

I am a fairly long time member of the site. I have however been riding a BMW for my longer distance touring the last two years. Just traded my 04 flhtcse on a new flhtcuse5 which I will be touring on. Some of you may remember in 07 I built a 113" road glide. Loved the bike but it was plagued with the 110 blues. Wish me luck with this 110. I am hopefull I will get some reliability this time. Only changing ac, fullsac cores and removing cat and tune. I'm afraid to do more to a 110 any more.

Congrats on your new scooter. I too have a new SEUC with 26 miles on it. Just picked it up last Friday and not much time right now for riding. Good luck with the Mod's your going to do.

Congratulations on your new bike. The 110 is a strong and reliable motor in its stock form. Although it has had its share of problems judging by the feedback on the 2010 CVO's many of the issues from previous years seem to have gone silent. You will love the new bike!! Much different from your older HD's and radically different from your Beamer. By keeping your new bike in near stock condition you will have a very reliable ride for many years. A lot of us have been guinea pigs in past for  different and various "builds" only to come away much lighter in the wallet and very disappointed with the results.

I'm nearly at the point of pinning down a deal on a new burnt amber Ultra but for some strange reason the spiced rum Street Glide keeps flashing before my eyes. Weird how that happens to usually rational, mature adults ......................

Rational, mature adults........  where? I wanna meet one who has a CVO.   :zroflmao:

mrootberg, Congrats on your new bike. I have an 09 Silver. I did the same things you are talking about with the fullsac map and agree with your decision to keep the upgrades simple. The bottom ends can only take so much power anyway. CAHDBIKER

Yup...2 phrases that curse us Harley owners:

1) "I'm done".
2) "I love my bike...I don't need a new one".

Thanks for all the well wishes on the new scooter. Took it out for a breakin today (150mi) and have the following impressions.
The new frame does not flex like the old ones (even with ride straight) and is much better in high speed sweepers.
The new shock absorbing device on the drive train makes it feel much smoother.
The heated seat works great and the saddle feels good for as far as I went.
Radio sounds great.
Minor problems .I HOPE
The clutch has a squeal starting out in first.
Weird noise when downshifting into first. It sounds like a wind up toy unwinding. Maybe that is what is in there.

Hope all of you others with the new scoots are happy with yours.
Finally thanks to all of you on the site who always provide so much valuable info. I usually just quietly try to absorb it all.

Congrats on the new bike.  I don't have the noise when starting out in first.  At least I don't think I do.  This is my second, had an 07 and now a 10, the wind down noise is normal.  I've been riding Harleys a long time and metrics quite a bit.  No doubt about it, Harleys make their own noises.  One other thing, I've always had Corbin seats, but I have never had a seat that after a few hours my a$$ wasn't ready for a break.  This new seat is great.  It actually gets more comfortable.

I to just got a 2010 burnt amber, have 924 miles on it, the first gear noise is there. I have talked to another person who has the same bike and he said his does it also. He said that all the six speeds trans. do this. I will have to get louder exhaust to cover the noise!!!!

Enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the responses on the 1st gear noise. I had the squeal checked and it turned out to be the rear brake sticking. Thought it was the clutch because it would occur when I was starting out and I wasn't on the brakes. The dealer says a fair number are having the same brake issue. No biggie. Now I just ordered a full Bub system exhaust. Maybe I won't hear the 1st gear.  :nixweiss:

I am a fairly new member compared to you, but I purchased my CVO in May and then took it for a 12K mile, 45 day tour this fall.  The CVO is amazing.  I haven't looked back.  Enjoy your new ride and GOOD LUCK!!
