After 1,020 miles, Can't ride the citrus any longer stock
« on: November 23, 2009, 07:54:31 PM »

The windshield, highway pegs, and passenger floorboards never made it off the dealer's lot.  The bike was torn down yesterday and the front forks were sent to Traxxion today to have the AK-20's out of the old bike installed in this one's forks.
The stock front end is pretty bad with the diving under braking and coming to a stop.  The front end drops 1/2" just getting on.  The worse thing was hitting tar strips that were perpendicular to the road.  You could feel the front tire "skipping" over the bumps.  I truley believe the 09 front tire cupping problem is a result of the forks.

Here is a picture with the front end removed.  Pretty sad sight.

Hole where radio used to be.  Had to remove to change the bars so I will add the rear jack to the radio while it is out.  May never use it but tired of tearing down 10 different times.

Polyurethane bushings on the left for handlebar risors.  Old stock rubber ones with 1000 miles were already tearing.  The rubber ones shouldn't even be used.

RH side with starter out for paint and chrome.  Exhaust header pipe sent out to local machine shop for cut/weld.  He says he can jig it up ok for reweld.  Let's hope.

Good time for cams but will leave well enough alone this time.  Runs pretty good just stock.

Harley pullback reach bars on top of the stock bars with the internal wiring coming out of them.  Had the pullback bars on the 05 cherry.  Had to remove all the terminals from the plugs.  Never done this before (old bike already had thisdone when I got it).
Pray that everything works as it should when done.   To Jim (Hd-dude), Porthole (Duane) and 2lane Don it is no problem.

Stock bars with wiring-10#'s crap in a 5# bag.  Got the wiring switched out today and broke one plastic plug so off to the dealer tomorrow.

Will post more pictures in the next weeks/month as progress occurs.  What I am doing is not meant for everyone as everyone's tastes are different.  Most of this stuff was done on the 05 and it was a 1st class bike when it was done.

This one will slowly get there.

Truer words never spoken Gary.  Just had the cherry where it was great and now starting all over again.  I don't know how people ride them stock with all the great aftermarket products there are.  Wouldn't have found most of them if it ween't for this site/group.    :2vrolijk_21:

The Woods TW7H is no louder than stock cams.
But sure makes more torque over a wider range.

Edited to add,
Jim (hd-dude) recommended these for the 110.
If anyone knows what works it's Jim.

Thanks for the heads up on the cam selection Chip.  Now is the time to do it.  If I thought I was going to have a lifter problem like yourself at 15,000 miles, it would definitely get done.  Have some time to decide whether to open it up or not.  Was going to go with the TTS from Fullsac so will have to see what goes together with the tuner if I use a map supplied by Steve.  I think he uses a different cam?

Thanks for the encouragement Dick.  The handlebar wiring has me stressed out for sure.  Hope it all works as it should when buttoned back up.

What is the best setup for a front end mod? I'm coming up to 42,000 miles with the stock front end and I would like to get details on what can really make the front end nice. I need contacts, kits, and cost. Thanks!
