Chrome inner Fairing trim kit
« on: November 24, 2009, 03:55:22 AM »

I would like to add some more chrome to the inner fairing. What are some options without getting to much. Pic's would be a big help. I know you guys are good at spending $ so help me out. LOL

Thanks,
Chris  :orange:

A guy I ride with put chrome around his stereo and a few other little pieces around the acc switches.  He hates it cuz the sun reflects off it so bad.  Before I buy a ton of chrome, I'll be picking up the Service manual and supplement for the CVO, much better investment.

Here's a "before chrome" pic of my 2010 SEUC inner fairing (chrome pic to follow):

And here's a pic with 3 additional pieces of chrome. The speakers, the radio faceplate and the radio bezel. I definitely prefer the look with chrome and I have never had any issues with sunlight reflections in over 1500 miles with the inner fairing "dressed" this way.

speakers and glove boxes with trim.....and no issues with the sun.... acctually i would think the chrome from the fuel door and bib would be where the sun would shine the most off of...

I am partial to these trim rings on the speakers, which very closely match those around the gauges.  They are available from Drag Specialties and HD-dude on this site can get them for you.  They were more than $20 and less than $30...somewhere in that range.

There ya go...ruin my day.  Just when I thought I was all done with my bike, you remind me what I forgot to do.  I've been planning on getting that painted over the winter, and I guess I got used to seeing it that way, and forgot all about it.  Now I'll have to go stare at my bike for a while again and decide all over again if I want to have it painted.  That's the nice thing about my bike.  I can stare at it all I want and it never says, "What are you lookin' at?"

Has anybody out there achieved what appears to be a dead on match for the Ruby Red color?  I think my friend down the street can do a good job in his body shop, but I sure would like to get a perfect match if I'm going to do it.

Sometime this winter I'll take it down to him and tell him not to paint it unless it looks dead on.

Dave,

If I get my friend to do it, he'll be real reasonable.  If he does mine, I'll let him know to save any leftover paint and he'll surely save the formula he uses in case I ever have a mishap.  I'll let you know if I get around to it on here, or I'll give you a call if I get it done soon.  Actually, I'm still pleased with it unpainted, but I'll probably be happy if I get it done.

I really believe that this bike has just enough chrome inside the fairing, for a classy look.

Ride safely,
