Broken Tourpak
« on: December 30, 2005, 08:52:58 AM »

Though I would let you guys or gals know about this.  About a year ago I had taken my SEEG in because the latch on the lid was loose.  The service manager said it was normal(go fiigure)  well about 6 months later the peice broke and fell off.  When I went back to the shop the new service manager said he didn't think they would cover it but he would try.  After a few weeks of talking to customer service he said that he wasn't sure if they would cover it or not.  Then while on our trip to Canada I got a call and the service manager said he had ordered a new tour pak lid for me.  Well when the lid showed up they put it on about a week later the next new service manager asked when I was going to pay for the new lid.  I told him that the last service manager had ordered it and I was told it was warranty.  Well I told him I wasn't going to pay for the crappy hack job they did,  and that this new lid was loose a well.  Well after the new service manager talked to customer service they asked for the old broken lid because they wanted to look at it.  About a week ago he called back and said now they wanted the bottom of the tour pak to check it out as well,  and that they where sending a whole new tour pak out on warranty.  Bitching does work after all.

Sounds like a typical dealership.

I'm happy for you that they're finally going to get it right, thow. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Mr Magoo-

Sounds like you had a real problem going on there for a while. Some people would just give up and dish out the cash because they want to resolve the issue faster.
Glad to hear you held your ground and didn't budge. That's the only way to do it! It seems like some of those service managers shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. There's too many people out there that don't have any pride and could care a less about the customer.
Congratulations on your New tour pak from the MoFoCo!!

Take Care,

Grover

The dealers suck, just like anything else, its the money. They dont care about customer service because they didnt have to. But, things, they are a changin, dont go to those dealers that do that to you. I only go to a certain dealership and its about 30 miles out of my way. Every chance I get I promote that dealer to other riders. Believe it or not its owned by a big car dealer out here, he has two actually and he takes care of his customers and treats them right. Arrowhead Harley Davidson Peoria Arizona. Car dealers have finally learned you need to get the customer more than once! Harley dealers are going to learn it the hard way. The next 5 years will tell the tale! I love it. ;D

Magoo, nice work on the tour pak.  You are the ajudicator man.  Not to change the subject but (I'm going to), I just had to tell someone it is going to be 83 degrees in Dallas on Sunday. Our HOG Chapter always has a ride on New Year's Day going somewhere to eat blackeyed peas for good luck in the new year.  I guess this year it will be blackeyed peas and cold beer. I don't know how you guys in the frozen tundra stand it! :)

We are still discussing the custom paint on the back of the tour pak so far they haven't seen it my way but I think they will come around.  As far as turn over that why if it wasn't warranty they wouldn't be touching Ethel(SEEG).  And I think I will just get the tour pak and install it and the spoiler and luggage rack my self since thats what they screwed up last time.
