Time will tell.... for both of you.

Jeff how are the cam chain tensioners?? Is upgrading to an aftermarket gear driven cam an upgrade?? Guess it's all depends on who you ask.. :sneaky:  :wiseguy:

This scoot has a REMAN motor in her. Just a little over 300 miles on this "new" motor. I did talk with my shop about gear drive vs the new style chain drive. I can't believe the cost of the gear drive systems has not come down yet. The company's have certainly recovered their investment by now.

You know if I do replace the cams, I may have to have the heads cleaned up. Is that more than stock?

Jeff

A little clean up on the heads is no different than washing your bike.
That's something everyone will do or should do at some point.

If JC can call a trailer an "ambulance" ::) :P, then I'm going to call switching to gear driven cams "stock" (when I do it at some point in the not too distant future).

As I recall you get alot of flow through those head with a little cleanup...enough for cams that area little more aggressive...

Is that still stock?  Sure.... :drink:

Have at it...

You might make it thru a season w/the tensioners in there..... until curiosity gets the best of you and you check. ;) :D

Only if your definition of cleaning up is removing the carbon and not having any cutting, welding, polishing done and you replace all factory components back w/same style/size components...... and we both know the chances of that happening are as good as you getting a 100 degree day in Illinois in December. :huepfenlol2:

Don't listen to him Jeff..... he's betting you'll mod it too.... first thing he'll say when you do that is... "I thought you were leaving it "stock". :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Those saying/giving the interpretations will be the first ones to holler that it isn't stock anymore..... and collecting on the wager that you wouldn't leave it stock. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

So cracking open the bottom end for a stroker crank would not be "stock"?   Dang!
