Good eye, forgot about that...that's a whole another story which should be told at some point.  However, you are correct, it started 2 years prior to the accident.

 How about in 1957 at the tender age of twelve, me and some buddies took a Briggs & Stratton Lawn Mower engine and built what we called a "Doodle Bug". That was the launching pad for my motorcycle mania!

1958 Triumph Tiger Cub 250-beat it to death & abandoned

1964 (I think the year is correct) Honda 305 Scrambler-drafted into
US Army,returned home from 'Nam in 1967 to discover my younger brother adopted and proceeded to destroy it beyond hope. Threw it away in a construction dumpster.

1969 (are you ready for this?)Suzuki 250 two stroke! Won on a bet. Was considered quite a peppy little bike in it's day and could lay down a cloud of smoke better than a crop duster. Gave it away to another junior biker wanna be.

1971 Yamaha 350 Scrambler. Met it's demise when I tried to cross a Railroad bridge not realizing there was no solid surface between the wooden ties. Lucky to tell about this brilliant move.

1973 Honda 350. Actually sold this one.

1975 Honda 750. Four cylinders was hot-sold like hot cakes too.

1987 Harley FXRS. Went nuts on this one. Complete tear down of bike and learned some good lessons in engine building (what not to do). Sold to a young Stud who showed up to buy it while he was in a leg cast from a previous accident. He rode off with it leg cast and all.
I think I single handly helped put Black Hills Motorcycle shop on the map with my parts purchases.

2002 Harley Duece. Was offerred over MSRP due to supply and demand situation and cut it loose in a heartbeat. Didn't like it.

Had a number of bikes after that one, but that one gave me my first and worst experience to date.

1982 Honda 90 (given to me by a friend to learn on)
1983 Honda 350 (got bored with this in a hurry)
1985 Honda V-65 magna (first new bike, what a torque monster for its time)
1991 Yamaha V-MAX (2nd new bike, needed more power, stage3, 165 HP untouchable dragster, which inevitably crashed & burned)
1996 Heritage Softail (time to mellow out, marriage&kids, found out stockers suck, sold)
1999 Fat Boy bought as a project bike, had some big plans, but never enough time(sold)
2006 FLSTFSE2 Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy (Yea Baby!)

First four were oil leaking, kick start brutes.  The super glide was nice for a shovel.  The FXR is the only one I regret selling.  I plan to put the FXDX and SEFatboy in the will and let the kids fight over them.

Two wheeling transportation began for me 40 years ago with a Honda CA110. Several metric bikes followed - mostly dirt bikes - I was rarely ever without a two wheeler. Over the past 10 years I've been fortunate to own the following:
1974 Honda CT70 - an orange 1K miler who resides on a display stand
1978 Honda CT70 - a 500 miler who is also a garage display piece of the past
1995 XL 1200 S - it planted the seed
1997 FLSTS Heritage Springer - a sweet ride - white w/red
2000 FLHRCI Road King Classic - one beautiful black machine
2004 FLTRI Road Glide - my black period continued
2006 FLHTCUSE - Autumn Haze - I love it!

Beside our new Screamin Eagle Ultra Classic Autum Haze we are getting in April 06 we still ride a 03 Heritage Springer. Looking foward to the new ride ::) ::) ::)
