Exhaust system for new 2010 SEUC
« on: November 28, 2009, 05:50:39 PM »

I was over at the Harley dealership in Omaha where I finalized my deal on my upcoming 2010 SEUC which will arrive in Feb. I was talking with the service rep and he recommended that I get an upgraded air filter, dyno and upgraded exhaust. Said the stock exhaust was too restricted. He discussed Vance and Hines and also mentioned Rhineharts. Said that Rhinehart exhaust was more expensive but he really liked them. Any thoughts from the group the direction to go when the bike hits the ground in a couple of months?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last I heard, the only thing available for these is just slip-ons.

The last I heared was that the aftermarket was playing catch up. I put the Vance and Hines on my 09 SERG and love them. I also had the race tuner and dyno done after 1000 mile break in.

Vance and Hines do have a head pipe available for the 2010 CVO Ultra. http://www.vanceandhines.com/products/touring-10-powerduals/powerduals.html

My head pipe is cut apart and cat removed, should be welded back up the first of the week and hope it lines up and fits.  Will do the 1.75" Fullsac baffles.  I like the look of the stock headpipes, but that's just me.

Yeah, but what do YOU like???
Sometimes, just hanging out at the local watering hole you get to hear different setups leaving, arriving.
Check out the look and sound of what others are using, and ask some questions.
Doing a little "research" will help you in your decisions and maybe save a few bucks.

Boatman.. How did the weld job come out??? I'm thinking about cutting mine but wondering about final fit. I thought about putting the pipe back on the bike and bolting everything up and then tacking the pipe in a couple spots so everything is lined up.

A machine/welding shop is doing it.  They scribed it like Fullsacs picture and cut it apart.  Their blade was 1/16"..  I picked the pipe up and removed the cat..  They are going to set the pipes up in "v" blocks and then weld.  They think it will come out alright.
I will post with pictures and whether it fit later this week.

Taking out the cat was not as easy as you would think.  It just laughed at a big hammer and punch.  On the rear side, a air chisel was used and then pulled it out in pieces with pliers.  The front half, a 1/2" drill bit was drilled thru about 10 different places and then the cat pulled out in pieces.  The cat is glued to the insides of the pipes and the inside looks like Fullsacs pictures on their website.

I then took a air tool with grinding bit and cleaned up all the loose inside pieces of the cat..

Steve at Fullsac said that the new headpipe should be out in a few weeks at the most. I may give that a try.

I ordered the Bub 2-1-2 system with the stealth muffelers. My dealer likes their product. They should be on in a week or so and then the bike will be tuned. I will update when I get some numbers. (I ride lots of long trip miles. Had it with real loud pipes. STEALTH!!! )

Here is the cut pipe back on the bike.  The weld job may not look as nice as Fullsac's but if it doesn't leak anywhere or break, I am ok..   Heat shields went on ok too but unable to start yet.

Even the front/rear 02 sensors are grey and black and the head pipe even says G or b at the port so it is hard to get the wrong one in the wrong port.

This exhaust system is 10 times easier to install than the stock 08 and older pipes.
