Tour Pack locking Problem
« on: November 30, 2009, 03:13:49 AM »

The buttons on my keys don't lock the tourpak or saddle bags. The switch on the dash board works fine. Any ideas?

step close to the right side of the bike and try again. Sometimes they will work over a distance and sometimes you have to be real close to the bike. Same with the security module. Just Saturday 2 yards were not close enough with my bike.

I have to hold mine in front off inner fairing to get it to work. Still beats locking each one with a key..

Make sure you have a fresh battery in the fob.  I would suggest that if the best this system can do is lock or unlock the bags if you stand less than two feet from a particular spot on the bike, it isn't worth the extra fob you have to carry around.  Have the dealer check it out and contact H-D if they don't know what to do.

The key fob on my 2010 SEUC only worked within about 6inches from the front right fairing. The dealer covered it under warranty since the manual states it should work up to about 12 ft. They installed a new lock receiver module (which required reprogramming the fobs to the new module).

After the new lock receiver module was installed, my key fobs now work upto about 5-7 ft. Not what the manual states, but good enough from my perspective and certainly better than the 6in fob reception I had from the factory.

Change the battery...Just because it's a new FOB doesn't mean they put a new CR2032 in it. I recommend changing your batteries in both FOBs yearly. Mine quit the other day, now that's embarassing!

I didn't know how to start it, never thought about it.

I will retry with all your input when I get home. But I have to tell you guys that having the switch on the dash board is bad a$$. I had my best ride ever yesterday along with 6,000 other bikes on the Louisville, Toy for Tots run. The news reported last night that 3 times the numbers of toys came in over last year. My Chapter had a blast. Oh, the bike got so much attention. I love this machine and she loves me.  :P

I did not like carrying the big a$$ key around, so I ordered two regular H.D. keys from the dealer for $25.00   Now I just push the dash button to lock and unlock storage. Sure beats carrying that big hunk of plastic in your pocket all of the time.

I do it too. However, your security system won't do much for you with the FOB in the tourpak...

Thanks Heat for the heads up for that problem. I did try all the way around the bike up close and about 10 feet away. It may be time to have the dealership install a new lock receiver module like you did.

I STILL CARRY THE SECURITY FOB IN MY POCKET, JUST NOT THE GOOFY BUTTON KEY. I NEVER LEAVE THE FOB ON THE BIKE.
