Thanks man! I found that once I was totally committed, it really wasn't that difficult. I was never in the "I'm trying to stop mode" I went straight into the "I don't smoke" mode. It's all mental, so you just can't let them damn things beat ya! ;)

Firechief2 and Hoist, you both are doing great. Congrats on kicking the habit, and keep going. I quit smoking over 27 years ago and both of you are right, I too enjoyed smoking. Both of my parents smoked for over 40 years and they quit over 10 years ago so it can be done. You both should be very proud of your self's. Today is the six month anniversary of my last cigarette. I used the Chantix pills and they were expensive, but they worked well.

However, I have gained 30 pounds since I quit and because of the extra weight, my blood pressure is almost high enough to have to go on pills for.

I told the doctor that if I can't get the weight off and the blood pressure down, I'll go back to smoking. They still smell good and I still want one.

What is the benifit of this product other then you don't smell like smoke and the wife may now allow you to smoke in the house now.

You still have the Nicotine ? Yes ?

I "quit" once for 20 years and got sucked back into the filthy habit, but am now "quitting" (31 days) for good, I hope.  I was sitting around some cabins in Death Valley on November 1, 2009 and realized, out of the 40 or so hard core H-D riders in the group, I was the only one smoking.  Oddly, the first week was the easiest 'cause I was so pissed at myself for taking it up again.  Now I catch myself thinking about a smoke at the usual times on a ride to a familiar stopping place (bar, gas stop, etc) or in the garage with a beer.  The urge usually passes pretty quickly but I'm not as pissed at myself as I once was, so it's an on going battle.

I am not trying to "sell" these things -- just wanted to pass on what I thought was one alternative. You pointed out two pretty convincing benefits  :).
Yes you are still getting nicotine (the same as with most "stop-smoking" options such as the patch) but you are not getting the other 3000 plus ingredients in cigarrettes including the tar.
