FWIW: The recall is a very simple "fix" and takes all of about 10 minutes to do.

They remove the front tank bolt and slide in the "fix" plastic tabs between the tank tab and the frame and then tighten up the front tank bolt again. DONE!!!

There is a black plastic cover that can be applied over the tank bolt if you want it to be. I elected to take them with me and decide later.

Safety Recall Completed.
« Reply #168 on: February 13, 2010, 11:39:19 PM »

 Picked up my '09 SEUC today from the dealer after having the fuel tank mounting braces installed under the safety recall. As you can see from the attached photos, they can barely be seen. I feel so much safer now!
 But the best news is, that while the bike was in the shop, Suffolk County HD in Oakdale NY, they;
      Replaced the front tire with the  Dunlop D408     No Charge
      Did not replace the rear tire after inspecting it, even though I had given them the OK to change it if needed.
      Installed new heated hand grips.     No Charge
      Replaced seat due to a 1/2" long split in the front nose.    No Charge
      Replaced XM antenna. Radio worked, but tech observed a pinch in the cable from antenna to radio while
      working on the hand grips. Didn't want it to fail in the future.    No Charge
      Offered to deliver my bike to my home due to the winter conditions. (50 mile round trip)   No Charge
      Performed the 5000 mile service. I paid for that, well worth it because maintaining a good relationship with an excellent
      dealership will get you the kind of no bullcrap, attention to detail service, that I describe above.

  I highly reccomend Suffolk County Harley-Davidson anyone in the Long Island, NYC area.

I'm ready for that "Severe frame damage from a frontal collision" now!!!
By the way, the brace is made of plastic.
