Hi Guys CVO, friends I've been waiting for the Blue SEUC5 for about five months. I am ready to ride! The last time i talked to the sales guy who took my deposit he said the bike would be in sometime in December. I went by the dealer this week, my sales guy was not there so, I called back later to see if he was in. Still not there. So, I called around to all the dealers in North Carolina to see if I could find one, they told me there would be no more SEUC5's until February. So, i called to see if anyone had any SEUC5's in. I found a citrus colored SEUC5 an hour away. I went to take a look at it. Very nice color in person. Im going back tomorrow (Sunday) to take my wife to look at it for the okay to buy. I took pictures of the bike and showed them to my daughter, who loved it much better than the blue SEUC5! Plus everyone on CVO say it's the best color for 2010 ok. Will be bought tomorrow, I hope;) I told the dealer I was going to remove the catalytic converter, he had a fit! He told me not to remove it but to just put some slip-ons on for better sound plus, he said he wouldn't take it off, but i will take it off. I asked the dealer if he would do a SERT to re-tune it. So the dealer started to run-off-the mouth about the sensors. Did I mess up by telling him what i was going to do?? Plus, I'm going to put the fullsac baffles in 2inches. I am ready to ride! Come on man!!!!!

No matter what he might or might not personally think he can not (ok, should not) publicly support an alteration to the federally mandated and approved emissions control system.  Huge fine for tampering.  HUGE.

I think the dealers talk will change somewhat as soon as you have actually bought the bike. At least that's what I'd hope for.

Ride safely,

take out the cat and the engine warranty is void

the whole idea is to take the cat out & do a really good job so the dealer never knew it was gone

the days of dealers removing the epa crap before delivery are slowly going away..

its your bux, do what you want - just dont think the dealer or the moco are going to fix anything ever if you change stuff, then you wont be disappointed.

if you are counting on the warranty to keep your maint costs down for a few years - then changing stuff is the wrong plan.

Removing the Cat is the most important and cheapest mod for a better engine life , next is the AFR adjustment near the 13 ( important like the cat remove but more expensive) , and both will improve the free running engine .

Yes, Forewarned is forarmed, Your dealer would never have known you cat was removed, now that you have let the cat out of the bag so to speak im sure if you have an engine malfunction he could handily deny your claim, I would switch dealers for any warranty work.

Sounds like you need to find another dealership. :nixweiss:

This has been covered on this board many times over the years.  The Magnussen Moss Warranty Act says the failure has to be directly related to the modification in order for them to deny the warranty claim.  A few dealerships deny the claim as soon as they learn of a modification however, those dealerships don't really want or need your business anyway.  In most cases their claim wouldn't stand up in court (because the failure is rarely related to a modification) however, most of us aren't willing to push it that far.  Easier just to go down the street to the next dealership.

I've never had a warranty claim denied on the past four bikes, due to any modificaions.

I'd be careful with them cause it's ILLEGAL to tamper with an emissions system. As was stated earlier, a dealer CAN NOT condone that. What they do and what they say might be 2 different things. But the MM W.....ty act doesn't come into play when it comes to tampering with emissions systems. It's clearly illegal to do so. Keep your business to yourself about this stuff, and don't share it with the dealer until you know how they play this game! ;)

Best thing to do is do what I'm going to do.  Leave the CAT in the stock headers and replace the headers along with the mufflers.  Then you can technically say you didn't remove the CAT.  My CAT will still be in the collector where it was when it left the factory, it's just that the collector will no longer be on the bike, but I didn't remove the CAT.   :coolblue:

Same here.  Dealer recommended changing the header and cans so I could keep the stock exhaust STOCK for warranty work.  That was their words and on paper to cover my bike the next 5 yrs.  Only they had to do the labor for them to cover the bike.  They also said it was for their dealership and I might have trouble on the road somewhere else.  I say do what you want.  I like the bike much better with the Mods.

Good call Devil, this is exactly what my Dealership said we were going to do to change my exhaust. Now, did you get the bike???

Chris I've had the bike for quite awhile now...I just finally got around to changing the headers.  I've got to get it in and dyno'd though...it's running a little rough between 2000-3000 rpms...
don't know why... :nixweiss:

If all I do is only change the slip-ons will that void the bikes warranty?  Does it make a difference if I or the dealer do the work?
