The problem Virginia and many other states have is that there is no legal difference from a nightclub/bar vs. a family restaurant that serves alcohol. So many people don't like the idea of guns in a "nightclub" where the majority of the sales are alcohol, but VA. law doesn't separate things so the average CCW holder could be prohibited from carrying in what most people would just call a restaurant. That to me is wrong....
When you think of the practical problems the state is creating an issue by not allowing a CCW holder to maintain control of their weapon. They say to just store the weapon on or in your vehicle. That creates a parking lot full of unattended vehicles with weapons just sitting around waiting to be broken into and stolen. Thieves operate in areas of ripe pickings so if the realize guns can't be carried into places that serve alcohol then they consider the parking lots in that area to be good hunting grounds.
I realize the deadly nature of guns but think the person should be held responsible for their actions not the weapon. After all people can be killed with knives but I don't want to go to my local steak house and have to have them cut my meat for me or eat it with a spork since the customer can't be trusted with a "deadly weapon."
