Hi to All,

I have known about this site for a few year now and decide to sign on.

I was looking for some information on rider down since I myself had to lay down my
2006 Ultra CVO a couple weeks ago. Was riding with the Blue Knights as part of a color guard
when the front rider of the color guard slow down the rider two bike up lock up his brakes and
the rider behind him clip his rear. Well he went down but the rider in front of me was able to avoid
the down ride. To keep from hitting him and running over his bike I put the bike down. The policy
gave the down ride the ticket, what I though was minor damage to my bike turn out to be $4000.00.
All is cove by my insurance and this is the first time I have place a claim with the insurance comany.

I guess my question to the group from your pass experience will the insurance company up my insurance.

Good question...and 1 that I am asking myself as well. I went down for the first time 2 months ago to the tune of about 9K in damage and I am a little scared to open my next insurance bill next summer.

Anyway...welcome to the site and ride safe from Long Island, NY

Hello and Welcome to the board from Louisville, KY. I can tell you that my insurance company (American National) did not drop or raise my rates after I laid my 08 Fatboy down last August and that too was about 4,000 in damage. After 4 surgeries on my leg it's still not right. But, I'm still able to ride, so I have that going for me.  :2vrolijk_21:

Welcome to the site glad to have you join us :2vrolijk_21: Sorry to hear about your accident, you didn't mention whether you received any injuries, but if you did I pray for a speedy and full recovery for you. In regards to the insurance I would think it would depend on your status w/your insurance company. If you filed a lot of claims in the past then there would be a possibility that your premiums could be increased. A lot of insurance companies offer a "no fault or forgiveness" claim to policy holders.

Welcome to the site.

I use progressive to insure my bike and autos. They have been fair with me when I've had auto claims. However, I'm sure that there is a magic dollar amount or number of claims that could change my status with them. Anyway good luck.

 :welcome_005: Welcome from Virginia! :welcome_005:

State Farm did not raise my rates after I claimed a total loss - although it was due to a flood.  They were fair, including covering the accessories that I had added to the bike - an 07 Ultra.

State Farm has the lowest rates I have ever experienced, but you have to have other insurance with them before they will insure a motorcycle.

:welcome_005:  Welcome to the site, Hank  :welcome_005:  from :sunny:  sunny So. Cal.  :sunny: and the CVO gang!  :vrolijk_6:

Sorry to hear of your accident.  Hope you're all right.  Whether your rates change is usually related to how the insurance company assigns fault.  If they hit you for the deductable, they probably consider you at fault and your rates will go up.  You can argue the point with them...

Welcome from Upstate New York! :apple:  Every company treats their customers differently.  Sometimes it depends on how long you've been a customer, driving record, and etc., etc., etc.  Just call your agent/company and they usually will tell you what the impact  of an accident has on your rates.  Good luck!
