Patches
« on: December 12, 2009, 11:00:47 AM »

:soapbox: I am a collector of certain patches (mainly HD related) and am a firm believer that if you have a patch for an event that you had no part in you should not have that patch period, therefore why would you sell a patch to someone that has not participated in the event? In my younger years I refused to wear a HD shirt until I actually owned one, and since 1990 I wear a HD shirt with pride every day. The same goes for patches, I would wear an Eagle Riders patch with pride, when and if they are ever available again once I receive delivery on my SESG in Feb.2010.

In essense i agree with your sentiment, personally i gave up having patchs sewn on many years ago, each to his own. I do still buy them but collect them in a glass cabinet along with other memorabilia.

I do have and proudly wear a couple of Sturgis t`s that i bought in USA, although I have never been able to attend as yet. It shows my support for such an event! :soapbox:

As you dont own your CVO yet, i guess you exempt your self from the current patch auction!  :drink:

Oh my.  I just realized; this is less about patches than the really deep-intellecutal-chit-ethical question of standards and ethos and all the other made up rules that someone that actually knows right from wrong should be annoyed by.  So, everyone, it's time to dish.  Share your standards.  Just how cute does she have to be to get you to be bad?

Oh, by the way, picture evidence seems appropriate to illustrate your own individual standard 8) .

For example.  I'd sell a patch to Dana Delaney whether she'd ridden somewhere or not.  Ah hell, who am I kidding.  I'd give her the damn patch....

Hawg,

For the most part, I would agree with your position, but not completely.

Most of the patches TLR has put up in the Charity Auctions are CVO related but no necessarily specific to an event.

Some of the pins are specific event related and on that issue I agree with your posture. I have bid on these pins with the intention of putting them in a glass case for display in my home. I personally would not wear them, but I would proudly state that I won them in a charity auction initiated by an outstanding CVO Forum member to help others that are less fortunate.

If I were to win a "general" CVO related patch; I would wear it. I DO own a CVO!!

That's my story, and I'm stickin to it !!!

That's been confusing the he!! out of me too. An avatar can be just as "misleading" as a patch I guess. But then again, if 2LN says it's okay, there endth the lesson of the day.

Hawg do you know where to get the old style HD wing patch?
The bar and sheild had a brown back ground and yellow lettering.

Thanks Hawg but they don't seem to have it. They do have some nice patches though.
I saved it to my favorites for future reference thanks again  :2vrolijk_21:
