How do you like those pipes?  Do they sound loud?  Compare the sound level to the stock setup if you don't mind.  And if you like take a ride up to NY so I can hear them.  Dress warm! LOL  Or call me and hold the phone up to tear level with the radio on and rev the engine.   :nixweiss:

I really like the Fat Shots, they are 20% louder and with the Fuel Moto header it's about 10% louder again (Non Cat). I wouldn't want them any louder, its a muffled sound instead cracking. The tuner really liked them too! You just dont know how good they sound till you watch someone else ride off with your bike!! :D

I will find someone that has them around here and take a listen.

Thanks again for the info.

How do you like the way your setup affects the ride now as compared to stock in the RPM range 1000 to 3000.  Does it feel good at that RPM range or flat? I am trying to come up with CAM for my Spiced Rum.  Thanks for your feedback.

Rich, that curve shows that the 263 is basically barely rideable on a touring bike below 3 grand the way I see that curve. Great curve above 3 grand with good numbers. A little too much of a "top end" cam for a touring bike for me. JMO! ;)

Any suggestions for a CAM to keep the lower end of the stock 255 and stay alive to at least 6000 rpms?  This without doing any headwork with only pipes and fuel mgt...

If it were that simple, there would be only 1 cam that EVERYONE would be using on a touring bike. Nothing for nothing here Rich. With NO head work or upping CR, you're limited to what you'll accomplish. Everyone speaks very highly of that Andrews 54. Why not give it a try. The curve looks decent for a bolt-in. I'm not crazy about the way it falls off at higher RPMs. But it looks like it pulls better than the 255, and the timing should help cool things down. But there is NO WAY for 1 cam grind to magically DO IT ALL! ;)

Dave Mackie TC 575L is built for a stock configuration 110...  It won't give the performance a fully modified motor will produce, but it will run cooler and move the usable RPM of an otherwise stock motor higher in the RPM range - without sacrificing to much of the bottom end power.

Lots of these are good cams and these are good guys but really first you need to define where you want your torque sweet spot, the 2k rpms where you spend the most time. then there are a plethora of cams that will work. There are some better than others that take into the consideration the very large nature of the valves and ports and inherant low exhaust VS intake flow (not because the exhaust is poor but the intake is so high)

w/ the 263E, pistons pipes and header, this thing gets up and talks!

I have been trying to get some comments on a set up I am seriously considering.  08 SEUC.  Now mind you I am not a "gearhead, tech or expert".  I have read as much as I can, and talked to the service manager at my local H-D shop (I have known him for 25 years).  Here is what I am thinking.
5 qt oil pan       (assist with the heat issue)
Rhinehart Slip ons (considering the new SE slip ons)
10.5/1 pistons
263E cams
Heavy Breather for Ultras
SE Pro Super Tuner.

Any thoughts on what I can expect in Hp or torque?  I ride a lot of two up, like to keep the rpms between 2500-3500 and want the torque to get up an go when I want (passing, hills, etc....)  Not interested in racing, just want to pull the OL and I with luggage in the tour pak and on the luggage rack.  Hope that is enough to get some opinions.

Read here:
There is a lot of good factual data from actual testing. The 263 will perform well but moves the torque curve far to the right, even with the added compression. Considering the load you may be happier with a gearing improvement and less cam.

Thanks, I will do some more research.  It does seem that the 255s will be sufficient.

After reading through this thread and others addressing changing cams/gaskets out I'm trying to determine is it worth it...cost vs. improved performance (2010 SESG).   However, during my search I can't find any info on cost and I don't have a clue of how many hours/dollars are involved to simply swap the cam out????  No headwork, just an Andrews 54 cam and .030 gaskets??? This decision will obviously include a exhaust change, cat removal, tuner and a good dyno.

This is my work up of what my costs would be.  Labor, taxes and dyno time may be different in your area.

As others have said, I wouldnt go with the 263 cam in a bagger.  Do you have to stick with a Harley Cam?    255 with 10.5 to 1 compression is a lot of cranking compression on the motor.

11 hours seems a little high on a top end build, would expect 8 - 10.

6 hours on the dyno tune is in the ballpark to do the job right if they spend the time vs a canned map.

Slip-Ons are on target on pricing check out easternperformance.com

You can save about 20 percent though on the Super Tuner by ordering it through Jenny at tri county or any of the other discounters.

I was initially set on the 263E, but from what I can tell from others that have it and the estimates from others, the torque curve is too far to the right, I need the lower end torque.  Will be discussing the 255.
11 hours is the quote from my local H-D, could take less, but that is what the "book" says.  That does include the heavy breather.
If I understand what they have told me, the dyno time may take less.  Seems that after the build and tuner installed, I run it for a 1000 miles and bring it back for a download and tuned from that.  Sound right?
I already bought the tuner and cables at a discount last month during the Military Discount Day.
In addition, I believe there will be a labor discount in Jan-Feb.  Could be up to 50%.
