Riding Experience SEUC vs. FLHTCU
« on: December 14, 2009, 10:59:13 PM »

I always had a blast riding my 105th Anniversary Ultra.  Did lots to it, and had fun.

BUT

Riding my new CVO is like taking drugs  :bananarock: :apple: :bananarock:, and I have barely started on the mods!

Anyone else have a similar experience?  I'm now second-guessing my feeling of them being overpriced.

Still cheaper than crack, I suppose.

I'm certainly addicted to mine, and it's a real high riding it, but other than that, I'm not sure I can make a comparison to taking drugs.

Spada84, What I enjoy about my 09SEUC (silver) is the fact that it is the best Harley has  to offer. I did the math before I bought it all the extras are well worth the money compared to buying an Ultra which most people spend a lot of money on for even just the touring necessities (oil cooler, heated grips, and seat of which I have needed and used many times even though I only have about 7K on it). Also like many of the other guys on the site have said before "It is a CVO and will retain its value a lot better than an Ultra with add ons" The power from the 110 feels great even in stock form, and once you get them opened up it is fantastic. I passed a 30 ft. fifth wheel being pulled by a Ford dually going uphill just out of Casper Wyoming. He was doing 80mph. I had my wife and our luggage and as soon as it was safe I kicked it down into 5th and was doing 95mph in a snap, shifted into 6th and he just disappeared.(that was when it was stock). The power is smooth, the mileage per gallon is great considering the performance. I am already planning a long trip for next year. Good Luck with yours. CAHDBIKER

Just to be clear!  I don't take drugs, and was referring to the addictive part.  I know the cost of drug addiction, and see it in my extended family.

I wrote this after coming home from meeting friends for dinner, and I kept considering "if I turn here, the ride home is even longer".  And this was after dark with temps in the 40s.  Of course, I put 47K on my FLHTCU in 26 months, so we KNOW I already have a problem - I just see it escalating with the SEUC.

I don't know about the drug thing (never took 'em), but I do know that after I bought my '05 FLHTCSE2 I never really rode my '03 FLHTCUI.  No comparison!  The difference was like night and day.  The Ultra was more comfortable for the long haul, but the SE just has a different feel to it.  It's just a blast to ride...I don't care what anybody else says...unless you ride one, you'll never know!

It could just be the Xtra 10k that makes me feel so much happier. All i know is i AM happier. Just like i tell other riders who ask what i think of mine ......it's Xtra sweet!

But to answer your question directly, not so sure its all that different. "Bigger, better, faster, more?"  :2vrolijk_21:

Yep, and those who think the phrase "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand" is arrogant, just don't understand.   :2vrolijk_21:

I have had multiple Ultras, always wanted a CVO, absolutely no comparison.  CVO is the way to go, don't wait, buy one now they are indeed the best Harley's built.

Well it guess it could be like tripping? At $40,000.00 then it stops or you buy another and another and another and it never stops. LOL  A natual high is always the best and it will keep you out of the pokie. ;D

My justification for everything is ( you only live once, and their is not going to be Uhaul behind my Hurst) so I work to live not live to work.

If you think your CVO is not a drug you're in denial.....that's part of the disease of addiction. :huepfenlol2:

There aren't many things(legal or not) that can take you away from everyday life and its ups & downs and make them all go away. It's theraputic, without the cost of professional therapy. (and not having to be admittingly mental).

Best money I've spent for my sanity in an insane world.
