Leather tour pack protection
« on: January 04, 2006, 01:21:02 PM »

I have cleaned, polished and caressed my bike many times now,  but have not done anything to the leather.  My salesperson advised me when the bike was delivered to wait 3 to 4 months before doing anything to treat / protect the leather.   Not sure if I can wait this long.   Was anyone else told this ?
Also,  what have you guys/gals found that works best for treating the leather ?

Thxs,
Matt

Uhhhhhhh, I wiped mine off with a wet microfiber cloth once or twice.........I got some leather protectant with the bike (came in a little bag in the tourpak), haven't used it yet though.....guess thats the kinda stuff I should be doing over winter.....instead of riding it and getting that crappy salt stuff all over the bottom side.

I think it was about 30 days after I received my scooter that I treated the leather seat & tour pak.

I used the Leather Dressing (HD Part # 98261-91V) that came with the bike.
When I applied the dressing you could almost hear a slurping sound as the leather
sucked up lots of the dressing.

I plan to treat the seat & tour pak 2 times per year.

Word of caution

Maybe so but it wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun.     [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif]
