So around 3 yesterday afternoon the snow lets up at my house. I suit up, grab the broom and remove the snow from the Tahoe and the truck. I then make my way to the shed to get the snowblower. Start to add gas and realize my 5 gal can is nearly empty. No problem, I keep a spare....damn, dry as a bone. OK, the garden tractor is about half full...I will have to siphon some off. Now to find a siphon hose...head back to the house down to the basement where I find a hose to use nicely coiled up...was for a small pump for my dehumidifier. Cut a piece off and head back to the shed. Start the siphon process and about 10 seconds in the siphon stops...the hose curled up in the tractor tank. Head back to the garage get some tie wraps and a plastic rod. Head back to the shed, again with 16+ inches of snow on the ground. Start the siphon...about this time Anne treks outside since she did not hear the blower and was going to "Help" shovel. I tell her to go back in the house...she doesn't. I repeat...she stays. I then yell at her to go away...in not so nice of a manner....took about six times before she got my point and goes back in. I continue to Siphon off about three gallons and am able to clear the whole driveway by about 7.
I was sorry for yelling at her but she should just know better than to try to "help" when the situation gets frustrating and is not going according to plan!
