Nice day here, clear and cool.... but they are expecting cold tonight...my poor coconut trees paid a price with the last frost a few weeks back...this may finish them off..dropping bunches of coconuts and fronds...so sad..

I used to live down there. You would be suprised how resilient those palms are. I'll bet they come back in the spring. Get some fertilizer for the Palms and pour a little around the base and water. They may survive it yet. I hope so.

Some of us are just getting started with winter. A sure "fire" way to warm up your winter is to mix a measure of alcohol together with a little lot of gasoline and season with a dash of  . Make sure to hang on. Who said you can't do a burnout on a snowmobile???

Up in PA on business, and can't get home.  Hwy Dept and National Guard turned us around.  Worker told us "The drifts up ahead are as high as your hood (Land Rover LR3)".  Got a nice hotel room, lots of food, and brought the wife with me,   so we're OK   .

PA Turnpike Announces Ban on Certain Rigs to Take Effect at 6 a.m. Today Ban includes tandem trailers, empty trailers, Class 9 vehicles, RVs and others. Pennsylvania Turnpike officials alert motorists that a winter-weather ban has been issued for the entire Turnpike system beginning at 6 a.m. today. At that time, the following vehicles will be prohibited from driving on the Turnpike: • Class-9 vehicles (overweight and over-dimensional trucks) • Large Combination Vehicles (tandem trailers and doubles) • motorcycles • recreational vehicles • tractors hauling empty trailers • trailers pulled by passenger vehicles (cars, pick-ups, SUVs and vans) Drivers of these vehicles are strongly advised to park and wait out the snowstorm at Turnpike travel plazas or other designated parking areas and avoid seeking alternate routes.

I don't think that's going to be a problem.

Ours mostly came and went, not sure we'll see much the rest of this year with the "el nino" we are having out west.

Well it's official... we have broken the snowfall record for the season.... currently at 55 inches which is 40+ inches over the average. Come on spring!!!!!

Sorry guys, but here, just north and west of Boston, we got zip, nothing, bare asphalt.  In fact Boston had to forgive 4000 parking tickets during the Snow Emergency, because it never happened!

Yep, this proves it, global warming is alive and well. 

I hope nobody back there decides to open a new ski area based on one year's snowfall Gary.  I feel for you though, it sure makes a mess of the traffic and normal daily life when it is not expected.

Don't know about ski area's, but snow blowers should be real cheap on Craiglist if we don't get a significant snow fall next year.

Yep, MSNBC for sure would run that. 

The University of Washington recently pulled a snow study "showing lack of snow" was evidence of global warming for insufficient data and to small of a window reviewed.  Of course this after we got two years of regular snowfall that was similar to the years in 1950 the original study had used.

I figure it is all like the old margarine debate versus butter.  It can't hurt to moderate your butter intake, but I'm not going to stop using it.  Likewise, anything we can do (within reason) to help the planet can't hurt.

It still kills me the way the spinmeisters use whatever "climate change" they see to attempt to move their cause forward.
