AVATAR!! go see it 3d imax
« on: December 23, 2009, 10:26:54 AM »

Well i was a bit sceptical about it eventough all i heard was that it was a great movie.Last night i went to watch it 3D and WOW!!!
Story is good,it keeps you on the edge for all 3 hours. And the effects are incredible.I think this movie will start a new era on how the movies will be made.I can compare it maybe with the era when they didnt have any sounds then sound came and everything changed overnight.Last i got impressed this much by a movie was when my mom brought me to watch the original Star Wars and i was maybe 8. :drink:

Star Wars certainly impressed me. Saw it in all it's multichannel sound in a 70mm theater. Awesome.

I totally agree Avatar in my opinion ranks with the best science fiction film of all time, the 3D gave great depth to the screen, not to many things flying out of the screen and past your ear although i did take avoiding action while sitting in my seat on one occasion  lol

Creating a whole new world, complete, flowers, grass, trees. Hot chicks alien and not, riding flying dragons, blowing stuff. What more could you want. And, this is not your Daddies 3D.

We just got back from the early showing and yes it is a great flick. I had a bad pair of 3D glasses for the first 20 minutes but figured it out and didn't miss much. Go see it !!  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:  Doc

...I tried turning them upside down and your right, that didn't work either.  ;D  I hated leaving the movie for a few minutes to exchange them, but it took a few minutes for the movie to ramp up anyway.  :vrolijk_11:    Doc

I was a little distrurbed by this movie. Hear me out, because I found an article on it after I saw it and that confirmed what I thought to be underlying messages.

Was I the only one that was disturbed by aliens attacking American soldiers? I realize they were veterans who were currently employed by a large company, but in the movie, they looked like American soldiers. Was that coincidental, or was there an underlying message about the current war? Did anyone else notice that it seemed to have a hidden message about our current ecology? Seemed a little suggestive to me.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't want my entertainment to have messages about our current societal situations. Just like I don't want to hear  comedians telling me how I should vote, or musicians telling me that we'd be better off with a different administration.

I thought maybe it was just my perception of the movie... until I stumbled on this:

I've heard more people compare it to the plight of American Indians who were connected to Mother Earth...same plot as Dances With Wolves don't you think.   :nixweiss:   Doc
