Million Dollar Highway On Speed

Did any of you see the piece on the Million Dollar Hwy on Dangerous Drives the other day? I was flipping through the channels switched to Speed Channel and they were doing a show on the Million Dollar, it's a great ride, wish it was summer.

I've seen it before Craig and your right, it's a great ride. They did a show on the PCH as well, maybe History Ch., and it was very interesting as well.

Yea, it's a nice ride, 400' drop offs and no guard rail, goes through a lot of old mines, some are still being worked. I haven't been down there for over a year, I'll have to take a ride to Durango this summer.

No room! There's 2"-6" in some places between the edge of the road and freefall! If you get two cars side by side in some areas, you couldn't get out of the cars, rock wall on one side drop off on the other.

You won't be disappointed.  It's beautiful country.  Make sure you leave time to make a stop at Silverton on the way to/from Durango.  Ride into town and have a  :drink: :drink:

Yea, if I can swing it, I'll go this way, then throught Flagstaff, and down south west. Ouray is a great place to stop also.

This is the most beautifull place to ride in the state. If you really want to see some sights, stop in Ouray and rent a jeep. Take the Blackbear four wheel drive road that starts on the Million dollar highway and goes to Telluride. It is a one way trail (must take an alternate route back to Ouray) and is not for the faint of heart, and you do not want to be afraid of heights. Do not make one wrong move, or you won't have to worry about getting your deposit back on the Jeep. Some of the rental places will not allow their Jeeps on Blackbear. You will never see any better scenery, and your adrenaline will be definately pumping!! If this trail is to much for you there are many others around the area. I know this is a motorcycle site, but a day offroad during your trip is quite fun.
