iPOD quality
« on: January 10, 2006, 09:58:11 AM »

I plugged the wifes iPOD into the AUX port last week and had poor sounds quality compared to the rest (radio,CD, XM) has anyone experienced this as well.  I was using a 6' radio shack plug not that that should matter.  It is a Nano iPOD.

Did you try changing the output level of the iPod?

Using the volume setting that is?

I think you need to be putting out a fairly high signal to prevent picking up any background noises in the radio

Also the long lead would not help any - could be picking up all sorts of interference.

I use a short coiled lead which seems to work well - dunno where it came from though...

Thanks Dave.  You do have to have the volume up on the iPOD for anything to work.  I will trouble shoot again.

J.J. Another thought comes to mind, depending on what it sounds like. Having the iPOD volume too high can overdrive the aux input and cause the sound to be distorted, even with the volume low on the bike. Also, the iPOD nano has some tone settings, you might try playing with those. Something to experiment with anyway. Good luck, wish mine were here so I could try the same thing.

Thanks Greg.  I will give that a try.  Bike is in the shop they are looking at the paint issue no word yet.  I was on my way to the dealer and did not have time to fiddle with it hopefully soon.

Think the secret here is to have the iPod near full volume as mentioned before.  Occassionaly, I plug mine into some external JBL "Creature" speakers and the music is not good (distorted) if the iPod is not on full volume.
