case of bottled water
toilet paper
paper towels
microfiber cloths & Rags
windshield cleaner Spray bottle anti scratch

youll need a passport
and a tourist card validated at border
make sure your cell has international service- they all have cellphones down there
i always take a epi pen- some can get very ill from an insect bite
repellant for bugs
get a prescription for amoxicilin before it will ward off any tummy bugs
you can take some small kid gifts youll meet plenty of admirers along the way most are poor
small money and a little calculator for peso exchange
they will not take any U.S. money that is damaged/torn etc in any way
if you have trouble always ask DONDE ES LA CASA DE PUTA :nixweiss:

Duke,

Having done that ride, the 2 things that the Federalies constantly check for is guns and drugs.  Do NOT bring either in Mexico or you will get screwed!

Might want to throw in some zip ties and a small roll of steel wire.  Since you're taking your trailer, you'll have room for your repair manual (better to have it and not need it).

A big padlock.

I second that!  I would be scared chitless of bringing my bike down there. I know I would not sleep well unless it was in the room with me.  I would also check with my insurance provider and make sure that I'm covered if anything were to happen to me and the bike while out of the country.  You might have to get an extra policy to cover you.  Don't get me wrong, I love Mexico and have been there a few times and plan on keep going back (this Fall) but we fly in and use a bus or taxi to get around.  We were told to never rent a car because it is a flag and you ARE gonna get pulled over.

Please don't take this as if I am shooting you down, I just want you to have a very safe trouble free trip.

Duke, it's not that big of a deal.  Many of us have been into Mexico on our bikes.  Some way down there.......Ernie went to Cabo with a group from San Jose.  They've done it a couple of times.  He'd tell you to watch for the topas. :huepfenlol2:

You can get temporary Mexican insurance on the US side, near the border (they're all over the place).  I guess the big thing, once you pass Ensenada (that's as far as I've been) is the gas situation.  Might want to take a bottle of octain boost, too.

I learned a new Spanish word at about 60 miles per hour.  Topa is a very large speed bump!  Didn't make that mistake twice!

Once you are past Encenada, the people are very nice and helpful.

Two tips:
1 - if you are behind someone on a 2 lane road and they put their left directional on even though there is no place for them to turn, they are telling you that the road is clear for you to pass them

2 - If you see cars coming in the opposite direction with their emergency flashers on, they are telling you that there is something in the road ahead:  could be cattle, horses, an accident, etc

Oh yeah the GAS down there sucks.  Your milege will go way down.  I believe it is the octain.  GOOD CALL on that one JCZ.

I always carry about 30 $1.00 on me to hand out as tips, esp. to the kids

Speaking of the traffic (as stated in above posts) be prepaired to see a lot of double and triple trailer semi's
