Radio issue help..
« on: January 17, 2010, 12:17:12 PM »

I have a 2000 SERG with a radio that occasionally works great and occasionally cuts in and out very rapidly. When I slow down it is better. I have tried adjusting the auto volume feature, as well as turning it off altogether. I have replaced the speakers, and I have removed the fairing and inspected the radio and wire harness and ground. Any ideas or known problems? Maybe a known internal radio issue that can be located and soldered up? I am a mechanic and was once an avionics technician, so feel free to get technical...But also feel free to send me the "Doh! I should have thought of that!" ideas. Brainfarts happen.

Hi Clegg, I'M not familiar with the RG set up here in the uk, (as we dont have that many) but do you know what make it is? Also is it going on and off under acceleration? If it is a Radio Sound stereo and it's acting up under acceleration as my 05 SEEG was doing, it turned out to be a dodgy starter relay, AND make sure the battery clamp isnt touching where the relay is. I am assuming the set up is similar to the electraglide, i.e battery and relay locations. If it is'nt, i'm talking crap and ignore this well meaning advice :bananarock: :bananarock: :bananarock:

Thanks for the input guys. I will check into both of those ideas. Any other input is appreciated, as I have  all winter to try everything in the book. The bad thing is I can't test any repairs until all this dam snow melts!
