OK, I can do that........don't have everything completely back together yet. I'm installing an oil temp gauge in place of the factory air temp gauge. But I can post a few pictures next week after I get back from this weekends trip.

I have speakers in the lower fairings and they are about useless on the highway.

They even sound completely different then the fairing speakers, although they are the same speakers and crossovers.

In the driveway all is good, out on the road, at speed, especially with a either a 3/4 of full helmet they are almost non usable.

I changed radios just to be able to "fade" from the uppers to the lowers but always tend to favor the upper, as the sound quality is better, e.g. my "perceived" frequency response.

I wouldn't do it again.

What make of speakers were you using in your lowers?  Just wondering.  :nixweiss:

Amps, upper & lower fairings & tourpak speakers, Sony radio control and radio install kit - all Hawg-wried stuff.

The fairings have the component speakers and the tourpak has the regular units. The speakers for the tourpak and lower fairings are an "either/or" but not both. I use a connector under the fairing to switch between the lowers and tourpak (when it is on the bike)

I'm sure you'll be posting a few pics of your recent mods for us all to enjoy???  :2vrolijk_21:

Grizzly,

I went out and took a couple pics of the tweeter pod for your enjoyment...the windshield is not on yet, but the oil temp gauge is in and operational.

The close-up shows the paint match on the tweeter pod.....I'd say damn near perfect!

I'll try to post more next week!

See ya

Thanks 93,

Very cool indeed... I would have to say that the paint match is "spot on!"

Glad to see that you chose the cloth grills to match the other speakers grills.  :2vrolijk_21:

I'll watch for more pics next week.

Looks great. Thanks for all the info guys. Lastly, anyone using the 500w Sony sub-woofer that mounts in the tour-pak from hells foundry? i also wonder about vibration and the amount of space it takes up .Also, when paking the tour-pak,will clothing cut off ventilation and cause overheating??

I have a 06 and a 09 the 06 I but Hogtunes in the upper fairing and lowers with their amp. and the 09 I put J&M 7.25 in the fairing. I was in the garage yesterday working on the winter mods for the 09 and played them side by side. The Hogtunes had more bass in comparison to the J&M's. Bigger is not always better. If I have extra cash I'm going to dump those J&M's for hogtunes for the fairing.

What sounds good or not is often a very personal opinion.  Having had the Hog Tunes fairing lower speaker kit my bike for over a year without an add-on amp, my opinion is that the fairing lower speakers are essentially useless when riding.  I just installed the HT amp (32W @ 2 ohms per channel) to power the fairing lower speakers and I'll be keeping them installed--the amp makes all the difference IMO.  My HK head unit is wired for four channel operation  so the fader function controls the fairing and fairing lower speakers separately.  I'm using 6.5" Infinity Reference 2 ohm speakers in the fairing and 5.25" in the lowers.

I have all Hog Tunes - 8 speakers altogether.  If I were to do it again, I'd change out the stock speakers, add the speaker pod, and forget about the speakers in the lower fairings.  I think the lower fairing speakers are essentially worthless.  I can barely hear them, even if I put my ear directly on the speaker cover.

Well thanks guys for the input. Unless I get some additional strong pros on this subject I will pass on the lower speakers.
